Just Catching Up

Hey y"all. Happy Saturday! I hope you're having a great weekend and that you have fun plans for the long holiday weekend and un-official end of summer.

Here in the House of Angels, I am finally winding down with the selling process. Or at least I think I am. For those of you that have been following me, I started talking about this way back I think in February and started the un-living of my home then. I got a little de-railed when little Nacho came into our lives and well, with just me to do all this on the weekends and after work, it's been quite the under-taking. The good news is, the For-Sale sign went in the ground this week and the listing went live yesterday. *Happy Dance*

In other news- I've been trying to get a little ahead of the game for my upcoming challenges. In case you haven't seen the news here, noticed the badge or seen it anywhere else, I'm now a proud Design Team Member of the Nacho Average Challenge Design Team! Woo-Hoo. We've had the summer off and are so excited to start back up. We will be alternating color and sketch challenges just like last year. Thankfully, we're starting off with a color challenge. :) However, I already have an idea for the first color challenge. I'm trying to get as many cards done as I can before I pack my supplies away. I fear I may end up being the MDS go to girl out of necessity. Here's hoping I not only get a buyer quick, but I also find a new house quick.  Guess which room will get set up first!?!

Well, there's no card to show you tonight, but I have spent the last few hours giving my blog a little make-over. It hadn't had one in about a year and a half. of course it's almost fall now so the one I had up would have fit right in, but I kinda felt like it needed a change.  I would really love to hear what you think.  I used the all new Convention 2013 download for the header.  Well gotta go. I got a brand new , never used Hoover Steam-Vac for just $50 from an on-line yard sale and I need to go steam clean some carpets.  We're doing pictures tomorrow. :)

It's My Blog-versary #2!

Hey y'all. Happy Friday! I hope you're having a great day and you've had a great week too. :)

It's hard to believe it but two years ago I started my little blog. Wow! It's hard to believe it's only been 2 years. It seems like it's been so much longer, but at the same time I still remember sitting down at my kitchen table and writing this entry. As many of you know, I'm in the middle of packing up my house to move and I've sold that table. I'm kinda sad right now, because I'm thinking back on so many of the cards that were created at that table that have been featured here over the last 2 years. Hopefully it won't be long before I have a new studio and will be creating all sorts of new design memories.

In that first entry, I told you what a design Scaredy Cat I was, hence the blog name. Many of you that have followed along with me for any length of time know how much I hate to tear our beautiful paper, or distress. Goodness, even crumpling it all but gives me hives. So it seemed only fitting to share one of my convention cards with you for today's post. I know some of you will probably think it should be a "Birthday or Anniversary" card, but all things considered, I think this one really shows just how far I've come in the last 2 years, creatively speaking. Make sure you continue reading past today's card, I've got a little flashback for you. Some of you that are "Remarkables" may have already seen this on our team site, but I haven't posted it any where else. Here's today's card-

Ok, ignore the dirty grid paper. I thought I had that cropped out. 

Here's a little closer look-

Let's see- Distressed, Check. Crumpled, Check. Torn, Check. Heck, I even Stapled! Let's just say when I gave my team a sneak peek of this card, they could hardly believe I had made it! Guess what? It was the first swap I was out of. 

Wanna know a Secret? It turned out to be one of my all time favorite cards. Shhhhh- Don't tell anyone! It'll just be our little secret. I don't know how long it will take me until I'm able to put myself through all of that again. :) It may not be until Convention 2014.

Convention Swap #2 Be the Difference/MDS Hybrid

Hey y'all. Happy Wednesday! Hope you're having a good week so far. Today is my Voldemort day. LOL! Isn't it funny that Congress is so bad and causes "sequestration" and "furlough" and they're such bad words that we're not supposed to say them? Seriously. We're not allowed to say it at work. So we say things like our "day that shall not be mentioned" so I started calling it my "Voldemort" day. Well the good news is there's only one more to go. The bad new is, I already had a second job lined up for those days and now I have to cancel. Just more of the government yanking our chains, but I digress. :)

At any rate, I have another card from Convention to show you. I'm so excited about this card! As most of you know the Convention theme was "Be the Difference." I ordered the Convention MDS Download when it first became available and used it to create my swap and I love how it turned out. I hope you love it too! Here it is-

Do you love it? It's only the second time I've tried the whole "subway art thing" and I'm pretty excited by how it turned out. This is actually the MDS rendering of the card. My final card is already packed away. :(    

For my final swap, I turned this into a "Hybrid" and before printing I removed the flower element. Then using my Boho Punch and Strawberry Slush c/s I punched out flowers. I used the stylus from Simply Scored and my Foam Mat Pad to give the flowers dimension. Each flower was then mounted to the card with a Dimensional scrap and a Rhinestone was added for a little bling like the one above. I am happy to say all of these were traded. I didn't bring a single one home. Yea!
