Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday! I hope you're having a good week so far and I'm so glad you took the time to stop by and see me today. :) It's Tuesday and you know I love them because I get to share a new challenge with you. This week's challenge, at Nacho Average Challenges, is a color challenge and even though I don't normally like those very much I was super excited about this week's combo. It's just in time for Halloween and I have a big team meeting coming up in 2 weeks and was looking for something to make. So if I'm ruing the surprise for any of you, sorry about that, just pretend to be surprised ok? I think this is also going to be my Halloween Treat for the people at work.  Here's this week's project-

How cute is this!?! And you are not going to believe how Super-Simple it was to make. Can you guess the colors? They are perfect for Halloween projects! Make sure to read on for tips on how to make this.

Even though I'm still not convinced about Summer Starfruit on its own, put it with certain colors and it's amazing!

I got to use my New Envelope Punch Board and I have to say I'm in LOVE!!! I literally made the envelope for this in about a minute. It uses a 5x5 piece of cardstock and you start at 2 inches for your first score. This size envelope is perfect for gift cards too, but unless it's a Serious amount on the gift card, I'm going to be just as happy with some Chocolate. I will say that I made a few of these before I decided on the final one above. 

Here's the first one-

Cute, but it still needed a little something. So after a few tries with different embossing folders and glitters I ended up with the Polka Dot EF. It gave it a little something without being too much. I put the envelope folded up in the EF and ran it through my Big-Shot and it embossed everything. I was afraid it wouldn't work but it did. Make sure that you stamp and glitter your images first though or you won't get good coverage when you stamp. The spiders are from the new PhotoPolymer set Bite Me. Love that Name! I stamped them with VersaMark and then used our Heat and Stick powder and  new Black glitter. The Striped paper is from our New Halloween Witches Brew DSP and it's Tombowed on to my envelope. I colored the Trick or Treat tag from Tags 4 You in with my Stampin' Write Markers and punched it out with my new Label Bracket Punch and popped it up with a Dimensional. I got the stamp set Free at Convention and it has 5 stamps that you can use from Fall through Valentine's Day.

End of the Week Technique #60 - Crimped Paper Treat Holder

Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday! I hope you're having a great week so far. :) So I know it's not the end of the week yet but I had a few minutes and I wanted to share this with you while I could. This is another of my 12 Days of Christmas/Secret Santa gifts for one of my co-workers. This is the first one I made and I made it as a "Thank-You" for one of the Military Staff Members in our clinic. She always makes me smile and I wanted to give her a little something extra to say "Thanks" for always making me smile. I'm showing you hers because it was the first one I made and I took pictures as I made it.

Here's today's project-

Crimped Paper Treat Holder

Isn't it cute? I can promise you this is one package they won't be getting a sneak peek of. It's seriously sturdy and secure. I started with a piece of Raspberry Ripple c/s large enough to wrap around my treat which, in this case, was a pack of Juicy Fruit. I had seen my friend snacking on this last week and thought it was sure to be liked. :) I added a square of DSP that I cut out from one of our sheets. I think there's 16 different squares per sheet. I adhered it with Tombow and then added some Dazzling Diamonds to "Bling it Up" just a little bit. Here's a closer look-

Did you notice the ends of the package? I bet you're thinking I used the Paper Crimper to do that. Wrong. How excited am I to tell you I came up with this idea all on my own? I really do love being able to tell you I had an original idea and even more that it worked! I have a Paper Crimper that I've only used a few times, but since SU retired it earlier this year I didn't want to use it. I wanted to see if I could get the same effect without it, and I'm happy to say I was able to! Here's a closer look-

Pretty Cool, Huh!?! Yep, I was doing a little Happy Dance over this one. Oh, and I let Tink have a little fun too, just because.

Wanna know how I did it? It's so easy you're not gonna believe it...

What you need for this week's technique- Cardstock in the color of your choice, Adhesive (Sticky Strip is preferred however, I was out when I made this and used my favorite Tombow and am happy to say it held just fine) and your Simply Scored tool.

Here's how you do it-
1- Cut a piece of c/s large enough to wrap around your treat and long enough to "crimp" the edges. About 1 1/2 inches on each end should be good.
2- Center your treat and then apply adhesive down the edge so you can "seal" the edges together. This will be centered on the underside of your treat. Gently fold your c.s over and press down on the seam until it's secured. Then you can slide your treat back in.

3- Seal both ends, one at a time in the same manner.

4- Sure your treat is secured now but, let's make it look really nice. (No pictures of this next step, because I simply don't have enough hands. Sorry. I know you'll get the idea though.) Take one end and line it up against the top corner of your Simply Scored and using your stylus score down the edge. I scored in each score channel and I did 4 on each side. You have to score carefully because the c.s is double thick so it's hard to stay in the channels. Here's another look at the scoring-

Not only is this decorative, but I think it actually helped the edges to stay sealed when it was just the Tombow. Here's one last look at the finished product-

5- Smile when you see what you've created and smile even bigger when you think of the smile it will bring it's recipient- I really do just L.O.V.E. that part!

Well, that's all I have for you today. It's quick and easy and easily customizable to the size of your treat.  Oh and by quick I mean about 15 minutes start to finish. It took me far longer to write this than it did to make today's project. I really hope you liked today's project and I hope it inspires you to try something new. Watercolored Halloween Treat Bag / The Great Pumpkin Blog Hop Week #13

Hey y'all. Happy Thursday! Just one more day until the weekend. Woo-Hoo! Hope your week is an Amazing one.

First off let me say thanks for bearing with me yesterday as I missed posting and simply joined Tuesday's card up to a new post. I had already planned to do that, but I had also planned on giving you a new post. For those of you that follow me, I had a family emergency yesterday and just wanted to give you an update. My daughter is almost 5 months pregnant and started throwing up & having right lower abdominal pain Tuesday night. After spending 10 hours in the E.R. getting 2 Ultra-sounds and another 2 hours on the ward awaiting an MRI we found out 3 things. 1- We're really thankful that her husbands in the military and she is receiving Military Medical Care, 2- She's having a baby girl, Tooey (Baby 2.0) is now Princess Tooey, and 3- She had appendicitis. So, after a very long day, she went to surgery at 5pm and I am happy to announce both of my princesses are doing well. I'm forgiven for not posting, right? :)

Halloween Treat Bag featuring

I did this project for my September Team Swap. The bag itself is like this one that I did earlier this season. The focal panel though is CASE'd from the Fantabulous (why yes, that really is a word and the correct usage of it) Michelle Zindorf. I changed mine just a little to make it my own, but here's the original.  I started with a base of Lucky Limeade and made my sweet little bag. It's just the right size for a small gift or treat for someone special. The panel was adhered with Dimensionals and I used a piece of Ruffled Limeade Ribbon to hold it closed.

Oh! How precious is she!?! I used my Blender Pens and Classic Ink Pads on Watercolor Paper to design this little darling. I then fussy cut and adhered her to my brayered and sponged background.

I used the flourishes from Everything Eleanor like the inspiration piece but changed the position a little and then added 3-D pumpkins instead of stamped ones-

I love making punch-are pumpkins this time of year. They're just so easy and so sweet.

Halloween Treat Bag and a Blog Hop

Hey y'all. Happy Humpday! Just two more days until the weekend. Woo-Hoo. I hope you're having a fabulous week so far. I went to a women's networking meeting last night with my stamping bff April and met some really nice ladies that I'm looking forward to getting to know better. :) Who knows, maybe one meeting I'll take them some goodies in a sweet little treat holder like the one I'm about to show you.

I have another 3-D project for you today. It's constructed along the same lines as my G3 Purse last week, just a little bigger. Are you ready for the cuteness? Here it is-

Isn't it cute? I sponged some Whisper White c/s with Lucky Limeade and Wisteria Wonder for the background and then inked up my little Frankie with my Stampin' Write Markers, stamped him, added his goofy little googly eyes and he was done.

Here's a close-up of my cutie pie Frankie-

I adhered this panel with some Dimensionals to a panel of More Mustard and Basic Gray c/s and then adhered all of that with Dimensionals to a piece of Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP. (Love the name!) The DSP is adhered to my treat bag  with Tombow. Did you know you can purchase the stamp set, googly eyes and a kit to make really cute glassine treat bags complete with labels all as one kit and save 15% off the individual prices. Pretty cool! Let me know if you're interested in that deal. :)

Want to know how to make the bag? It's so super simple you're not going to believe it! I'm including a video to show you how to do the folds by Angie Juda. If you made last week's purse it's done the same way.

One of the really nice things about this project is you can make it as basic or elaborate as you'd like. I've got one that's much more detailed that I'll post here soon. You only really need 3 things to make a basic bag, then you can add as desired to embellish.

Want to see how much space there is?-

That's a Reese's Pumpkin in there and as you can see from the photos, there's room for two. It's about 3 1/2 wide and about the same height as my Black Berry. (sorry I forgot to measure that)

Here's what you'll need-
1-  (1) 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstock in the color of your choice (I used Basic Gray)
2- Something to score your c/s with (I used my Simply Scored tool) however if you don't have one and you can't wait to make these you could use the score blade on your paper cutter or a ruler and bone folder although that's a little harder.
3- Something to close your bag with (I used ribbon, but you could use another piece of c/s like last weeks purse and some velcro tabs.

Here's how you do it-
1- Score your paper's long side (short edge against the top of your scoring tool) at 2 1/2 & 6.
2- Score your paper's short side (long edge against the top of your scoring tool) at 4 1/2 & 6 1/2.
3- Re-inforce all of your score lines.
4- Fold the center scored lines over to the edge. (see video)
5- Secure your folded over sections, I used Tombow to make sure they held.
6- Decorate the front of your bag if desired.
7- Secure your bag. I simply tied a piece of ribbon around the top of my bag.
8- Fill your bag with goodies, candies, note cards, small gifts whatever you'd like.
9- Smile when you see the fabulous gift you've created and smile even more when you think about the joy it will bring it's recipient.

My 3G/Ghostly Trio Is Baaaack! Halloween Treat Purse

Hey y'all. Happy Humpday! I hope you're having a great week so far. The best part? Only 2 days left till the weekend. Woo-Hoo! :)

Have you seen the Great Pumpkin Blog Hop yet? No, not with Charlie, Snoopy, and the gang. The one with all the really cute Halloween cards and projects. Hard to believe, but it's on it's sixth Amazing week. You'll be able to see all the cute ideas in one convenient spot, at the bottom of this post. You'll be able to click on their picture and be whisked magically (haha) to their site to find out all about their Fabulosity. Why yes, that is a real word and once you see all the cool cards/projects, you'll believe it. :)

I went retro this week and used an idea from last Halloween. This treat holder was just sooo cute. I've been meaning to use it more this year and have just been finding other cute ideas so it kinda got pushed to the background. This weekend I got busy designing and brought back not only the purse but my 3 Cute Dudes as well. Here's today's project-

Isn't it cute? And how sweet is my Ghostly Trio, my little 3G's. Let me tell you, no one would be afraid to take this little treat holder. No sir-ree! These come together so quick, you won't even believe it. I think I'm going to make a bunch for an October Craft Fair. They're just the right size to put some candy in or a little non-edible treat like a lip-gloss/chap-stick.

Here's a closer look at my pale little sweeties-

Punch Art Ghosts

Know what you need to make this closure? I used my Decorative Label Punch and H&S DSP for the flap and my Small Oval Punch and Small Scalloped Circle Punch. (The one in the Big Catalog not the new smaller one in the mini) Punch out 3 Small ovals from Whisper White c/s and then insert the end into your Small Scalloped Circle Punch and give a little snip and Poof! Sweet little ghosts. You know it's not often in this big ole stamping community that you get to say you had an original idea, but these little guys...All Mine! I sponged the edges, lightly,  in Basic Grey and then added a little Two-Way Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds to the edges. I didn't get all of it brushed out from the center but it's ok. I think it just adds to their cuteness. I layered them and adhered them to my piece of Wisteria Wonder that I had punched with my Small Scalloped Circle Punch. The edges were lightly sponged with Wisteria Wonder and a little sparkly love added. This was attached to the flap with a Dimensional. I used a thin Velcro dot under the flap to keep my purse securely closed. We don't want our treats falling out. :)

Sorry, No Chocolaty goodness to show you but it will hold a individual Reeses' Cup or other snack-sized treats.

End of the Week Technique # 16 - Framelet Valentine Candy Holder

Hey y'all. Happy Thursday! I hope you're having a good day. It's cold here in the DMV with flurries forecast for later today but for now the sun is shining.

I have to confess that this is not the EWT I had in mind for you today. I know... you heard that last week too. Truth is I had planned to do lots of stamping and crafting yesterday to get ready for this weekend, (like I said I was going to do in yesterday's post) and then a little miracle happened. Right as I was finishing that post and about to hit "publish" my Oh-So-Handsome Boyfriend, who I took the day off from work to be with (don't worry I got it covered early, all legit like) and who had a last minute schedule change at 5:55 yesterday morning and wasn't going to be able to get off work, was able to get off work! SCORE!!!!! He lives nearby but his work schedule is soooo crazy (we're talking 6 days/week 12-14 hour days) that our time together is at a premium, so I have to say, there was not a lot of design - creativity happening in my household after I hit publish yesterday.

That being said, the project I have for you is super cute, super easy and can be adapted to anytime of the year, not just Valentines Day. I was inspired to make a Valentine's Day Treat holder after going to a Stampcamp this weekend and using the "Pillowbox" Die and the Big Shot to make one. Since I didn't have that die, I needed to find another option. I could have used the TopNote and made one like THIS from Halloween, but I wanted to try something else. So I got out my thinking cap, looked around and what do you know, I found the inspiration I needed right in front of me on my table. It was on the cover of the new Occasions-Mini. I changed it a little, theirs is simply rolled (so I'm thinking it's probably not a treat holder) and mine is scored with the Simply Scored Tool. Do you have yours yet? I'm telling you it is a must have! I don't even fold cardstock for card bases anymore without scoring them on that first. It just makes the fold so much nicer.

Here's today's project-

Cute right? Wouldn't you love to find this on your desk at work, or on your pillow at home? It's so easy even your crafting-challenged significant others could do this or could help your little ones do it to give you a nice surprise. If they can crank the handle of the Big Shot, Score cardstock, Punch a hole, Tie a knot/bow they're home free. They get bonus points if they can stamp the image and punch it out! (:

I used DSP from my Brights pack and the largest Framelet and simply ran it through the Big Shot. So simple.  Next, I laid this on my Simply Scored Tool with the "points" in a channel. I then counted over 1/2 inch or 4 "channels" on either side and scored, and then reinforced those scores. Then, using my Crop-A-Dile I punched a hole through both sides at the top and took a length of about 12 inches of Pretty in Pink ribbon (although you could realistically get away with less) wrapped it around the outside and through the holes.

Here's what it looks like open-

As you can see 4 Kisses or Mini- Reese's Cups fit nicely, or 3 "Nuggets" You can use a little Snail to hold them in.

Once they were in, I tied my Pretty in Pink ribbon in a simple knot and flagged the ends. I stamped 2 of the images from the P.S. I Love You set in Real Red and Pretty in Pink on Whisper White and then punched it out using my Small Scalloped Circle Punch. A quick hole punched to the top and I tied some Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine through that and around the knotted ribbon and easy as that my sweet treat is ready to bring a smile to someones face.

So what do you think? Will you be "accidentally" forwarding this link to someone you love so they can make  you something sweet for VD instead of buying something for you? I don't know about you, but I would rather get this, or something similar, that someone took the time to make for me than something from one of the big stores.

End of the Week Technique #5 A G3 (Ghostly Trio) Halloween Purse

Hey y'all! Hope everyone is warm and dry and working their way towards the weekend. Here in the DMV we are warm but wait... you guessed it def. not dry and if the good old weatherman is to be believed, that Big Bad Four letter word is on it's way! No, I don't mean more Rain, and yes I know it's a four letter word too, (I'm from the south we're used to rain, but it's warm rain and the sun shines there before, and after and sometimes even during the rain!) I'm talking , cue the doomy music (dum - dum - dadum.... SNOW!!!!! But, until then, maybe today's project will warm your heart and make you smile. It makes me smile every time I look at it!

First though, did you see yesterday's post and my cute little fellas? If not, I hope you'll take a moment and give it a quick look. It was the first time I had entered a challenge and it was for Carrie Gaskin's Ka-Pow Creative Challenge and I was so scared because her stuff is sooo Amazing! Let me just tell you, Carrie Gaskin liked my card and my little guys! I couldn't believe it! She left me a comment and everything. How excited was I? It was like my birthday and Christmas had come early. Seriously! Sooo Cool! Hopefully you like them too because they are appearing today on the project that actually came first and inspired yesterday's challenge card.

So, the End of the Week Techniques aren't always going to be a stamping technique. They might be a new or differentt way to fold a card or a craft technique that is either new to me or one that I'm either not really proficient at, haven't used in a while or want to highlight for someone that might be a beginning stamper, like the use of blender pens with Pastels.

Today's technique is making a cute little purse out of a 6 x 6 piece of DSP. Once again I CASEd France Martin . She really does have the cutest stuff! One thing I love about being a Stampin' Up demonstrator is everyone wants you to succeed, and they don't mind sharing ideas with each other. How cool is that?!? I just say "Thank goodness I don't have to come up with all these ideas on my own!". She has a video showing how to make these. How Stinking Cute is this? Ooooooh! I just wish I had a Big Girl One to carry around! If you saw yesterday's post, you know Tink got ahold of my 3 little fellas and the medallion their sitting on, and I really think I'm going to have to let her have free rein to blast these 3 as well. But even without Tink's help how precious!

I made a few changes to my purse from the video. My straps are just a tad bit wider, find what works for you. I didn't have a large oval punch for the flap so I cut a rectangle with my paper cutter. I don't have the measurements with me, but I think it was about 2 1/2- 3" long x 1" wide. Here again, make it your own. I also didn't have a scalloped oval so I went with my trusty ol' scallop circle and punched out a piece of Basic Black cardstock. See the grey on the edge? It's not grey at all. It's Whisper White Craft ink. You know what? I've had that thing since I stamped the first time over 4 years ago and it's like brand new. Our products ROCK! I drug the edge of my punched circle across the edge of my pad and it gave that effect. It also makes it look like I have a grey scallop circle with a black circle layer, bonus!

Now for my 3G's- No I'm not talking ATT or Verizon, lol, I'm talking my seriously cute Ghostly Trio, that I came up with. They are so easy. I used my small oval punch and Whisper White cardstock and punched 3 ovals and using the small scallop circle punch, snipped the bottom of the ovals and there you go, instant Ghost Shapes just like the ones on the DSP. I then lightly sponged my little dudes with some Basic Grey for dimension and used my Real Red Stampin' Writer to make their eyes. I used Tombow adhesive to secure them. (Couldn't have them floating away) Seriously, I would say they couldn't get any cuter except I know what's gonna happen once Tink gets ahold of them tonight!

Now you might ask, "Shan, how in the world did you get that little-itty-bitty oval into the scallop punch in just the right spot to punch it?" Well I'm glad you asked! How often do you have strips of paper left over, maybe a couple of inches long, a couple of inches wide, and you think to yourself - "This is not big enough to use on a card or for a punch, I'll just toss it."?
NOOOOOOOOOO! Don't Toss It!!!!!!!
Take that strip and use it as an extender strip. Just take a little tiny dab of SNAIL and put it on the end of one of those strips and then stick the top edge of your oval to this and just slide it right down into your punch, position it where you want and punch away. Doesn't get any easier than this.

Tip- This works especially well for our builder punches like the Cupcake Punch, Stocking Punch etc. I love those punches but I always hated the waste of trying to punch one thing, especially at the bottom, and having to punch everything else out. This way you just cut your cardstock to the size you need, or if it's already stamped your stamped image, stick it to your extender strip, slide it into position, punch and all you've punched is your intended piece and the strip you would have thrown away to start with. Fabulous! Try it next time you use one of these punches. You'll thank me, I just know it.

As you can see, plenty big to hold some chocolatey, peanut buttery loving or other forms of goodness.

Tip #2 When you do this project with pattern paper like my 3G's before you score, gently roll the edges up to see how your pattern will end up. Ask me how I know!
The DSP's used in the video didn't have a right or wrong pattern to them so I didn't think about this and the first purse I made was cute but my little dudes were flying across the bag instead of sitting up looking at me. So the second time around, I had to stop and think as I re-watched the video to see which way I needed to have my DSP placed on the Simply Scored so my little guys would be sitting instead of flying. Like I said, still cute, and most of the time this will not be an issue for you, but just something to be aware, just in case.

Not So Scary Treat Holder

Hey Y'all. Did I get ya? :-) Just one more week till Halloween, so I thought I'd do a Halloween post today. This is a Q&E, that's right a quick and easy, little treat holder for you to whip up for that special ghoul or goblin in your life. In fact I did this yesterday while talking to one of my best friends on the phone about coming to an upcoming stamp camp and she thought it was sooo cute! And guess what, she's so excited to learn how to make it. :-)

First though- I just want to say Thanks! Thanks, to everyone that has stopped by my little blog. I was at 206 hits this morning. Not a lot I know, but to me, soooo very exciting, so thanks again! Maybe we can get a little blog candy or something going for the next big numbers (hint, hint).

So, are you ready to see today's project? Ok, Here it is-

How cute is this? Ok, so totally not my idea? Wish I could claim it, but I can't, it's totally a CASE but I don't remember the person's name. If I find it, I'll come back and put it in here.

Anyways, this is really simple. Your base is Basic Black cardstock, just run it through your Big Shot with your Top Note Die. Your next layer is a piece of Old Olive cardstock. Lay it on the Top Note Die in the middle of die and run it through. Next, pick a piece of Designer Series Paper, I used a piece from our Frightful Sight DSP Collection. (You could use this treat holder throughout the year and simply change the color combinations and DSP.) My DSP was cut at 1 1/2 x 5 and placed at the center of the top note and I ran it through the Big Shot again. Now all that was left was the assembly.

I used Tombow adhesive to really get it to stick. SNAIL will not be sticky enough. You might also try  Sticky Strip, but Tombow worked for me. Adhere your DSP to your Old Olive layer and then I lightly sponged the edges with Grey just to add a little depth. Then, adhere those two layers to the base layer with Tombow, making sure to just put the Tombow around the edges (you want to make sure to leave room to put your goodies).

I then used my Crop-a-Dile to punch small holes in the center points and put in some Black Brads. I then flipped my Crop-a-Dile over and used the other side to punch a big hole up top to run some black ribbon through. The last thing I did was take my bone folder and gently, note that word - Gently, round the inside of my pocket. This gives it some dimension and allows it to more easily accept your candy offerings. Tombow and even Sticky Strip is strong but you have to remember it's only cardstock, so be gentle. I got my Kit-Kat in there with no problem and truth be told could have put something else in there as well.

This was so cute and so Q&E, I think I'm going to stir up a batch for work and class. Get it- Stir up a batch...lol. ok. :-)

So Tinkerbell, took the night off and Goth Tink was nowhere to be found. *tear* I'm kinda sad there's no glitter anywhere. Black Glitter is def going on the wish list.
