Hey y'all. Happy Humpday! It's dreary here in the DMV and I hope you're having a prettier day wherever you are. Know what's not dreary? Today's card. :) Its beautiful Calypso Coral color along with the butterflies and hearts makes me smile and I hope it makes you smile too.
Here's today's card-
Here's the Sketch over at Stampin 411 that was the challenge inspiration-
The only thing I did different from the original sketch was to turn it on it's end. I even used the same flourish design element. When I saw this sketch I knew just what I wanted to do with it and that doesn't happen very often so you can just bet I sketched my ideas out right away! Didn't want to have one of those episodes where the design idea flies out of my head. (You'd think with all the empty space in there they'd have plenty of room to fly around without feeling the need to escape, but none-the-less they still frequently do!) *SMH*
The Sweet Shop DSP is now retired, but it's just so pretty (& I have sooo much left) it was just begging to be used. The flourish is from the Baroque Motifs set and it reminded me of summer vines and what better to find around summer vines than sweet butterflies. I used my Beautiful Wings Embosslet to make them all and adhered them with Mini-Glue Dots. I was trying to go for a "soft" look and used Crumb Cake Classic Ink, however now that I'm looking at it on here perhaps Lucky Limeade stamped off once would have given me a soft enough color for the vines. Perhaps I will retry it at home and see. I stamped on a piece of Whisper White c/s. I'm not sure why it looks like Very Vanilla, I can't even blame it on my stoopid BB. It looks that way in person too. I also took the White Organza Ribbon and sponged the edges with Calypso Coral ink for a different effect.
I think the only other thing I would change about this is to add a little shine to the edges of the wings. Oh well, we live and learn. Guess it shows that I'm just an everyday kind of girl. I don't know about you but on most of the blogs I look at the cards are always "perfect" and sometimes it can get a little intimidating. Me, I show you all my winners, not such winners (thankfully, I don't feel there are that many of them) and the in between ones as well. LOL :) Don't get me wrong, I'm still very happy with this challenge effort, I think it's just the OCD in me that always wants my cards to be those "always perfect" ones as well.
Here's the inside-
Very simple. My sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and I added another sweet little butterfly. This one I added Dazzling Diamonds to all of the raised embossed areas for my little something extra you know I like to have on the inside.
Well, that's all I have for you today. I hope you liked today's card, that it makes you smile and makes wherever you are today a little brighter. If you liked today's card, please feel free to leave a comment. I love hearing from you! Also, if you liked it feel free to +1 or Pin it. I have placed the buttons on my side-bar for your convenience. Friends and Followers are always welcome too.
I hope you'll come back tomorrow for another Challenge card. This one is for Utah Diva's MDS Monday Challenge. (I know, my days are a little off this week) and on Friday for this week's End of the Week Technique, another challenge card, featuring Copic Style Watercoloring with Stampin Up's Markers. It's so Easy and so economical when compared to Copics you're going to want to check it out.
Till next time-
Remember- Life is often more about the storms that the peace they seek to overwhelm. It's not about Waiting for the storms to pass, but about Learning to Dance in the rain.
