Where Do You Find Inspiration? /NAC #70

Hey y'all. Happy New Year's Eve! I hope you are ready for a Safe and Enjoyable end to 2013. It's Tuesday, so that means the Nacho's have a New Challenge for you. It's a Color Challenge to end the year. I hope you'll play along with us.

So today's project started a little differently for me and it made me think, "Where do you find your Inspiration?" I don't know about you, but sometimes inspiration strikes me in the weirdest ways and it's often surprising where it goes from the initial starting point. That's how it was for me with today's project. Also, I often Seriously Overthink things. Do you do that or is it just me? Also, I think it's fun to look back and see where your Inspiration started and how it evolved to it's end point.

So here's today's project I actually did it 3 ways, like I said- over thinking-

So at first I was really stumped by this week's color combination-

And then I remembered I had these from Thanksgiving and had thought they would make a pretty card-

Ok- not exactly the same color but it was close and it was a start. Then I had to figure out a layout. I don't know about you, but I absolutely love card sketches. I have a board on Pinterest just about sketches, in fact one for cards and one for scrapbooking. I had recently seen this sketch and thought it would be fun, especially since I have the Tape it stamp set in both Clear Mount and MDS-

Still a lot of open space though. AUGH! So, I started thinking and it struck me that maybe if my guy made a card from scraps in my stash he might do something simple and then maybe slap some Washi on it so my card was born.  I cropped and used the little heart flowers to go with my original "flower inspiration".

The card ended up a little darker than I planned so I played around with the combo and came up with these as well-

I just re-colored the layers and washi and changed the font styles and colors. I like the pink one the most but it definitely wouldn't be something I could give my man. LOL :) The green one was the last and it's definitely the most middle of the road but I still like it too.

You know what happened next? I looked at my team members projects and really realized just how much I had over-thunk it! Oh well. It's a creative process and the best part of doing this in MDS... I didn't waste any materials during my experimentation. YEA!!!

Well, that's all I have for you this week. I hope it inspires you to play along with us this week. Most of all I hope it inspires you to really step out of your comfort zone and try something totally different. You might be pleasantly surprised. I would love to hear what inspires you and/or how you come up with your ideas and I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to stop by my little corner of the world. You are very appreciated!

A Beautiful Reminder / NAC #69

Hey y'all. Merry Christmas Eve! I hope you're having a great day and are looking forward to time with your families and loved ones. It's Tuesday and of course that means it's Challenge Day with the Nachos. This week we have a Sketch for you.

I have to say I had a really hard time getting started with this one. I had so many different ideas for a card, but none seemed just right. Dontcha just hate when that happens. So I decided to try a Scrapbook page. I scrolled through pictures that I had taken recently and came across some that I had taken of my Christmas Cactus and I knew what I was going to do. I don't know about you, but when it comes to indoor plant growing, I'm pretty much a Plant Serial Killer. There's only 3 things I can keep alive. Aloe, last year's Poinsettia, and my Christmas Cactus, and I even managed to kill one of those last year. Apparently a lot of fertilizer that looks like potting soil, is not the same as potting soil! Who knew!?! Poor baby cactus didn't even have time to bloom. My older cactus though has managed to survive despite my lack of skill or perhaps in-spite of it for 11 years. Not only does it give me beautiful blooms at Christmas time, but every year in late June it gifts me with them again. What a Beautiful Reminder of the Christmas Season.

Here's this week's project-

Ever have one of those serendipitous moments, where you go "WOW! Didn't mean for that to happen, but it's kinda cool!"? That's what happened with this background. I had originally color filled it with a solid color, matching it to part of the petals. And then I was trying to get my pictures into the photo boxes and all of a sudden, the picture was there in the background under the color. I don't know about you, but I was just stunned. It looked like a beautiful piece of 12x12 DSP. I added some of the ribbon from last year's Sale-A-Bration and I was finished. :)

Here's the sketch we are playing with this week-

I turned it on it's side and flipped the sentiment too and that's all.

Here's another pic of the main flower in the background. I simply lightened up the color and it just gives a sweet glow to the picture-

Well, that's all I have for you today. I hope you enjoyed my project and I hope it inspires you to play along with us. I can't wait to see what you come up with. Who knows, maybe you'll have a little Serendipity too.  If you have questions or just want to leave me a little blog love, be sure to leave your comment in the space below.

Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to stop by my little corner of the world. You are very appreciated!. Till Next Time-

Hello Kitty Fun Fold / NAC #68

Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday. Hope you're week is good so far. We have a New Color Challenge @ Nacho Average Challenge this week and I'm so glad you stopped by to check it out. You probably know by now that Color challenges are not my favorite. There's just too many options! I was really struggling with this combination. I had No Idea what I was going to make. :( Then I needed to make a Birthday Card for a co-worker. She's from China and guess who she loves? Too Easy...it's Hello Kitty. Then I just had to figure out how to make her. Pinterest and Google Images to the rescue. There were lots of different versions, but Lynn Pratt's inspired me the most. My sizes weren't coming out quite like hers but I'm sooo happy with how it turned out. Here's my card-

How cute is this!?!

Here's a close-up of my sweet, little kitty-

Dontcha just want to pick her up and
put her in your pocket and carry her around?

I used our Gingham Garden Washi Tape for the bottom of her dress. For her shirt I used Whisper White c/s & lightly sponged it with Daffodil Delight before using our Perfect Polka Dots EF. It's so soft and sweet. I used Smoky Slate to sponge all the edges for shadowing. I used a Little Pool Party and  my Scalloped Circle punch for the sky background.

I'm sure you have figured out our Color Combo already but here's the chart-

This was the first time I had tried the Twisted Fold card. It was pretty easy, but here's two things I don't remember seeing or hearing anywhere- 1- It won't fit in a regular envelope. This is a good chance for you to use your Envelope Punch Board to make one. However, by the time I finished making the card it was midnight and I was just too tired to traipse back up the stairs to find some DSP. :(    2-  It's bulky and doesn't lay flat at all. It does stand pretty though. Hmmm trade-offs.

Here's the inside-

There's not a lot of room to write on the pull out card (Right side with the sentiment). I know this is a bonus for a lot of people but we have lots of people in our office so I put another panel on the Left side. The cutting of the panels gave me a little trouble and I had to cut it twice to get both panels. I'm sure that was my issue.  :) You can't really tell by the pictures but I used my 2-way Glue Pen and Dazzling Details on the frame around the sentiment. I also sponged all the edges and folds. Funny how I used to hate sponging and now there's hardly a card that doesn't have it. Gotta figure out how to do it in MDS. Hmmm- maybe with the torn edge tool. Maybe you'll see that on something soon.

Well that's all I have for you today. Oh, I'm happy to report that my friend was so excited by her card. She loves it and it sits on her desk where everyone can see it. I hope you liked it too! If you like today's card or have any questions about it, make sure you leave me a note below.

Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to stop by my little corner of the world. You are very appreciated! Till Next Time-

Masculine Thank You / NAC #67

Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday! I hope you're having a good day and an Awesome week. We've spent the last few days with snow and ice and are expecting another 2-6 inches today. YUCK!!! Today's card reminds me of Fall which seems like just last week since we were in the upper 60's. WOW! What a difference a few days can make.

This week the Nacho's have a sketch challenge for you. I needed a card for our Resident's going away  (I get to make all the clinic cards) and wanted to do something a little different. Here's what I came up with-

I'm so excited with how this card turned out and happily our Resident really liked it too! I've really been loving the emboss resist and I thought it made for a surprising "Pop" of color and a beautiful Masculine card. I don't know about you, but I find them so hard to do! Believe it or not this was a really simple technique. Sponge on different colors, Stamp in VersaMark and Heat emboss, Brayer your top color,  rub the color off the embossed areas and Surprise! you have a beautiful image. Let me know if you have any questions.

This week's sketch is super versatile & I can't wait to see what you come up with-

Here's a closer look at the embossed portion. I just love the colors peeking through. So pretty. Ah, I mean so Masculine. :)

I added a little embossed leaf to the inside for my little something extra and my card was done-

Don't you just love the font on the sentiment. It's from our Photopolymer set. L.O.V.E. it!. Know what else I love and am thankful for? This little beauty-

Nacho's getting so big! She's crawling all over the place and is even pulling herself up to stand like a Big Girl!

Well, that's all I have for you today. I hope you liked my card and I hope it inspires you to play along with us this week and to maybe try something new. If you have any questions about today's card or the technique, make sure you leave me a message below.

Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to stop by my little corner of the world. You are very appreciated! Till Next Time-

Floral Birthday / NAC #66

Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a safe and enjoyable Holiday weekend. The Nacho's have a color challenge for you this week. You know they're not normally my favorite, but I definitely can't say that this week. It's been a rough 2 weeks for me and I'm so happy to bring you today's card. It uses 3 of my favorite colors and it brings a smile to my face, something that has been mostly absent the last 2 weeks.  I hope it makes you smile too. Here's this week's card-

I don't know about you, but with all the fancy folds and techniques, sometimes I forget about the really simple techniques. I've been enjoying emboss resist lately and I think it was just the "pop" of color this card needed. This card was for one of my good friends birthday. I spent Thanksgiving Day with her. They're kind of like extended family. I used my square framelets to create a "Polaroid" type layer in. I sponged the inside and outside to add a little depth, along with some dimensionals. The sentiment was colored in with my Stampin Write Markers.

In case you haven't figured out the colors, here they are-

You know I couldn't leave the inside plain so here's a look at it-

The Happy Birthday is from Sketched Birthdays. I just colored the inside and left the banner un-colored.

Ok- so here's one more thing that makes me happy. I got to Face-Time with her twice on Thanksgiving Day. Her infectious little smile is the result of seeing herself live on the I-Pad. She was so excited to see that smiling baby!!! Look at those toofers. My sweet, little Nacho turned 8 months old this weekend. Love this little girl.

Well, That's all I have for you today. I hope you liked my card and that it inspires you to play along with us. I can't wait to see what you come up with! If you have any questions about today's card, don't forget to leave me a message below and I'll be sure to get back to you.

Thankful / NAC #65

Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday! I hope you're having a great week so far and are looking forward to and gearing up for an Amazing Thanksgiving. We're under a Winter Weather Watch here in the DMV. Boo!!! :(  I sure wish the weather was like it was a few weeks ago when I created today's card. I wanted to make a card to take with me when I go spend Thanksgiving afternoon with friends. I was even more excited when I realized it would post during Thanksgiving week. SCORE!!! We have a sketch this week at the Nacho's and here's this week's card-

This is definitely not a mailable card. Well, I could mail it but it would be a lot of extra postage. It's heavy! So glad I'm just hand-delivering it. I used my all new- expressions thinlets with the Champagne Glitter paper for a beautiful little bit of bling. I used my sponge daubers to add multiple colors to my leaves. Love this look! I really wanted to use our fabulous Burlap Ribbon but it wasn't wide enough for my thinlet. Well, I just cut it down the center and added it to each side of my cardstock. I used Mini-Glue Dots to secure it to the bottom and top piece of cardstock. Yea! It was just going to be wasted hiding under the cardstock anyways. :) My leaves are stamped onto Naturals Cream cardstock and all pieces were sponged around the edges.

Here's this week's challenge sketch-

Here's a view from the side to show the layers-

You know I like pretty insides, so here's what I have for you with this week's card-

Well, that's all I have for you today. I hope you liked it and I hope it inspires you to play along with us. I can't wait to see what you come up with! As always if you have questions about today's card, be sure t leave me comment below. I love hearing from you, your comments really make my day!

Digital Triple Time / NAC # 64

Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a great weekend and are having an equally good week so far.  It's Tuesday and that means another challenge with the Nachos and I'm so excited with how this one turned out. I mean like "Whooping Out Loud" excited. Hope you like it-

I love that I was able to capture the look of Triple Layer Stamping digitally. I wasn't sure I would be able to. It's not perfect but, I still think it looks pretty cool!

We have a Color Challenge for you this week and here's what we're working with-

I love creating with MDS because I can make variations in the coloring jet like my real stamping. So Cool! The sentiment is a download I got for FREE during our recent Digital Scrapbooking Week. Love me some Free!!!

Here's the inside-

Not quite sure why this looks like Crumb Cake instead of Very Vanilla but I wanted you to be able to see it anyway. The sentiment here is also from Moments Ago. I love the font and the sentiments are fabulous too!

Well, that's all I have for you today. What do you think?  hope you enjoyed today's card and I hope it makes you want to play with your MDS and with the Nachos. I can't wait to see what you come up with! If you have questions about today's card, I hope you'll take a moment and leave me a message below. I'll be sure to get back to you. I love hearing from you and your comments make my day. :)

Belle's 1st Halloween / SMDS 5 Minute Challenge

Hey y'all. Happy Wednesday! I hope you're having an Awesome day and an equally Awesome week! I'm so excited to show you today's project. I was checking out Simply My Digital Studio's FB Page and the challenge for this week is to use a MDS Page/Designer Template and create a page in under 5 minutes. Well, I had the best of intentions and used the page but it took me a little more than 5 minutes. I think it's so worth it! Hope you enjoy it-

How Cute is she!?! And that costume! Do you see the Candy Corns in her little Skelly-Belly? Ooooohhhhh!

I used the Toxic Treats Designer Page and tried just dropping the picture in, but the background was grey and the page just didn't pop enough. I decided to change the background color and it made all the difference.

Since it was a pre-populated page I couldn't change the color. Easy enough fix with MDS. I just added a 12x12 punch, filled it with the same paper and then re-colored that. I changed the splatter color and the color of the words in the upper right corner.

Because the Candy Corn was such a cute part of her costume I wanted to try and incorporate some into the layout. Too Easy! I just added them as little photo corners/tacks. So even though it took a little more than 5 minutes, I stuck with the basic premise.

Well, that's all I have for you today. I hope you enjoyed today's project as much as I enjoyed creating and sharing it. If you have questions about today's project or any of my others, be sure to leave me a comment below so I can get back to you.

Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to stop by my little corner of the world. You are very appreciated! Till Next Time-

A Happy Hello / NAC #63

Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a safe and restful Holiday Weekend and are ready for a nice short work week. :) Tuesday's are one of my favorite days because we get to share a new Nacho Challenge with you and because the new MDS Downloads come out. *Happy Dance* Did you get in on all the great downloads last week? I stocked up!!! I can't wait to show you the projects I'll be making with them. One of the kits was "A Happy Hello" and it's so bright and cheery. It definitely made me happy! This week's challenge is a sketch and it has a center that just screamed at me to use a Bright Cheery piece of DSP. Here's what I came up with-

Isn't this FUN!?!

If you've been around here for any length of time you know as much as I love our beautiful DSP, I rarely use it for more than accents. I almost never make a card front from it. I might need it later!!! Well, I don't have to worry about that with Digital DSP, I can use it all I want and there's always more. YEA!!! Here's the sketch we have for you this week-

Did you know that when you design cards in MDS you can design all 4 sides and print it for the same price as 1 outside card front and 1inside? Yep, how cool is that? Well, I didn't do all 4 sides but I did make a pretty inside for you and here it is-

I kept it simple, but I think it's still cute. What do you think? I hope you liked today's card and that it inspires you to play along with us. I can't wait to see what you come up with. If you have questions about today's project or any others you see here, don't forget to leave me a message below. I'll be sure to get back to you.

Sugar & Spice Nacho / NAC #62

Hey ya'll. Hope you're having a great week so far! It's Tuesday and you know that means it's time for another challenge with the Nacho's. This week's challenge is a color challenge. I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with this week's color combo. Then I was looking at some pictures of Sweet Little Nacho and realized her picture would be perfect with it. That's when I decided go digital this week. Here's what I came up with-

Oooooohhhhhh, I just love this little girl!!!! One of these days I'm going to be content with a simple MDS page. Would you believe I went in and figured out a pattern and colored the dots in the sketch colors? Oh well, I think it was worth the end result. How about that cute little ampersand? It was one of our 50% kits this past week. Love it!

Here's the color combo for this week-

Well, that's all I have for you this week. I hope you liked it and I hope it inspires you to play along with the Nacho's this week. I can't wait to see what you come up with! If you have any questions about this or any of my projects, be sure to leave me a message below so I can get back to you.

Another Halloween Card

Hey y'all. Happy Sunday! Hope you're having a great weekend. I know it's after Halloween but I wanted to show you a card I made for my darling. He loves Halloween and I love making cards for him so it seemed to be a good excuse for getting creative, as if I really needed one. I really enjoyed making this card and I hope you enjoy it too! There's lots of pictures because there's a lot to it-

So FUN! I used the new Labels Card Framelets for this and it makes it so much fun! I used the new Photopolymer set Bite Me throughout the card. I also added some of our awesome Washi Tape and a little of our Witches Brew DSP. The web is stamped in Black Staz-On but the little spider is embossed in Black so he stands out a little bit more.

I extended the paper so there was an extra flap and the I put the DSP on the back of the flap so when it's closed you see the image above. When you first open the card though here's what it looks like-

Wait...It gets Better-

This is how it looks when it's open all the way. I love how easy it was for me to get my spiders at the bottom of the webbing with out photopolymer stamps. No Stamp-A-Ma-Jig needed even for someone as OCD as me! Wanna know what I love most about this card? The word "BOO"

I got out my Alphabet dies that I haven't used in a while and cut out the letters I needed from Summer Starfruit c/s.  I used the web image and stamped it on my letters in VersaMark and then heat embossed it with Black Embossing powder. They are so cool when you see them with all the texture and the color contrast.

Well, that's all I have for you today. Even though it's after Halloween, I hope you enjoyed my card and I hope it inspires you to make something a little different from your regular cards. Have fun with some Washi Tape or Die-Cuts or embossing. If you have questions about this or any of my other projects, be sure to leave me comment below and I'll get back to you as soon as possible!

Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday! I hope you're having a good week so far. It's Tuesday and I love Tuesday's because it means there's a new challenge with the Nacho's. This week it's a sketch challenge and I'm so excited to show you what I came up with. Here's this week's card (actually I have 2 cards for you today)-

I needed Halloween cards for my baby brothers, yep I said baby brothers. I'm not sure how much they really celebrate Halloween, but I'm pretty sure they enjoy candy and who doesn't enjoy a cute card?

Here's this week's sketch-

My circles were a lot smaller in my mind when I imagined this card. LOL- It is all about the inspiration though and the sketch did inspire my cards. I used our New Witches Brew DSP and the Happy Halloween Stamp Set. Here's a closer look at them individually-

I sure hope they like their cards. I know I had a lot of fun making them! Of course you know I made the insides pretty too, but I forgot to take pics before I wrote on them so no inside pics today.

Here's a sweet pic of my baby brothers and their Great Niece Nacho- Hahahahahaha it seems so funny to say that! You'll see what I mean-

That's Nacho with her Great Grandaddy Angel and her Great Uncles Ethan (l) and Eion (r)
That's all I have for you today. I hope you liked today cards and that it not only inspires you to play along with us this week, but to feel free to really play with the sketch. If you have questions about today's cards, feel free to leave me a message and I'll be sure to get back to you.

Sunny Flower Shop / NAC #60

Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday! I hope you're having a good week so far. I don't know about where you live but it's been cold, wet and dreary here in the DMV. But this week's card is bright and cheery. I got the Flower Shop stamp set a few months ago and I can't believe this is the first time I've inked it up. I really love that there's a coordinating punch. It made getting the flowers cut out so easy. This week the Nacho's have a color challenge and though those are generally my least favorite, I was so excited to see this combo. Check out today's card and let me know what you think-

Ooooohhhh! I had so much fun making this card! I used the new Deco Labels Framelets to make a frame for my sentiment and popped both up with dimensionals. It seemed like it needed a little something so I got out my Perfect Polka Dots and Fancy Fan Embossing Folders. Sometimes I wonder what I would do without my embossing folders. Whenever I feel like I'm missing something, that's usually what it is. :) Here's the colors for this week's challenge-

What a Great Combo!!!

It's hard to tell but I used my Blender Pens and ink pads to add just a slight wash of color. I couldn't find my Dazzling Diamonds in all the packing but I did find my Iridescent Ice and added that for just a little bling.

Sorry for the Ginormous Pics but I wanted you to see the shine

I had to have a pretty inside too, so here's what I came up with-

What do you think? I love the sentiments on this card and the fonts. Know what I love even more? I got them for FREE at Convention. Love Stampin' Up!!!

Well, that's all I have for you today. I hope you liked today's card and I hope it inspires you to break out a set you've been waiting to play with. Most of all I hope it inspires you to play along with us this week! If you have questions, don't forget to leave me a message and I'll be sure to get back to you.

Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to stop by my little corner of the world. You are very appreciated! Till Next Time-

Remember- Life is often more about the storms than the peace they seek to overwhelm. It's not about Waiting for the storms to pass, but Learning to Dance in the Rain.

Be Safe,
