Spin-ny Gingie

Hey y'all. Happy Friday! Just a quick post today as I'm actually a little busy. I hope you've had a great week and are looking forward to an Amazing weekend. I'm going to Annapolis tomorrow for lunch with a bunch of friends but other than that, not sure what the weekend holds yet.

I did today's card a few weeks back. It's one of my favorite types of cards and it just makes me happy. I hope it makes you happy too....

Holiday Spinner Card featuring
Scentsational Season & Snowflake Soiree Stamp Sets

Isn't he cute? This is one of the cards I showed my friend Brenda last week to show her the versatility of this set. She was tickled when she saw him spinning his way across the card. This was a very quick and easy card but it sure makes an impact. I started with a base of Very Vanilla c/s and added DSP  from the Be of Good Cheer collection. I cut two pieces, one for the front and another to layer underneath. A lot of times the mat or card base shows behind the slide and while there's nothing wrong with that look (I've used it before) I wanted it to look like my sweet little Gingie was just spinning his way across the DSP. For my border I used a scrap of Cherry Cobbler c/s that I punched with my Dotted Scalloped Ribbon Border Punch and cut in half. It was adhered to the bottom of the DSP with Tombow. This panel was adhered with Dimensionals so Gingie could spin.  The slide is cut using the Word Window Punch. I know you've heard me say it a million times before, o.k. maybe not a million but it's a lot, but this is a must have punch. In fact, if you're only getting one punch to start with, this is the one. Just so you know, the other two must haves would be the Decorative Label and Large Scalloped Circle. Just line up your punch on one side of the paper an punch your way across to the other. I actually punched too close to the sides. :( You know I tell it like it is. But there was no way I was going to cut another piece of DSP that size. I just needed to make it work. So, in order to keep the DSP from tearing when Gingie spun to fast towards the ends, I added Dimensional "stops" under the DSP to keep him from spinning to close to the edge.

My sweet little cookie was inked with Soft Suede and then stamped off once to give a softer color. He was cut out with the coordinating Holiday Framelet. The bow-tie is punched from the Owl Builder Punch. A few little pearls for his buttons and he was finished.    :) The sentiment is from Snowflake Soiree an was stamped in Soft Suede onto a scrap of V.V. c/s and punched out with the Decorative Label Punch. It was sponged lightly around the edges with Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink and adhered with more Dimensionals and the front was done.

Here's the inside-

This sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. I really don't know what I did before I purchased this set. My tasty little friend is stamped again and then a little visit from Tink made him even yummier, hard to believe that's possible. :)

That's all I have for you today. What did you think? I wish you could see it in person. He's just so darn cute spinning head over heels across this card. In addition to the diagonal strip being unexpected, it also gives him more room to spin and therefore gives more opportunities for smiles. I hope he inspires you to make a fun card soon. As soon as I saw this little guy, I knew he would be perfect for this type of card and I was right. I hope you think so too! If you liked today's card or have questions about it I hope you'll take a moment to leave me a message below. I love hearing from you and read all of your comments. They really do make my day. If you'd like to +1 or Pin it, I've put those buttons on my blog for your convenience. Friends and Followers are always welcome too! :)

Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to stop by my little corner of the world. You are very appreciated! I hope you have an Amazing weekend filled with lots of time for Family, Friends, and of course Creativity. Till Next Time-

C&S Merry / Unscripted Sketches #175

Hey y'all. Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for an equally fabulous week. I got into my office to find out we had no power and it had apparently been down all weekend. Luckily I have an office with a window so I have some light coming in. Going to the bathroom is an adventure, it was like being blind and on top of that the bathroom reeks of sewage. UGH!!! Oh and our refrigerators are of course hot, meaning all 500 doses of Flu vaccine are now useless. Oh and I had to send out a chest pain via 911 that I couldn't even do an EKG on. All of this within the first 45 minutes of being open. I also thought maybe I could try walking (not even walking fast or running, just walking) and my arches are on fire, and the first available appointment with my Orthopedist is next Thursday. AUGH! It's a Monday, what else can you say.

Well at least I have something to make me smile...today's card. I found all sorts of cute sketches last night and I actually got 3 cards made last night while I washed clothes and watched the game. :)

Here's today's card-

Holiday Card featuring
Snowflake Soiree and Be of Good Cheer DSP

Isn't it bright and cheery? Once I got the measurements done, it came together really quick. I started with a base of Gumball Green. To that I added a layer of Very Vanilla matted with a piece of Cherry Cobbler and a piece of Be of Good Cheer DSP matted with Cherry Cobbler. Here are the measurements for those of you that stress about that like I do. Standard base- 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored and folded at 4 1/2. C. C. mat 3 1/2 x 4, V. V. 3 3/8 x 3 7/8, C.C. 2 x 3 5/8, DSP 1 7/8 x 3 1/2. Of course I used my SAMJ to get the sentiment stamped just right. Although the font is beautiful with this set, it's written at an odd angle so the SAMJ was a definite must for me!

*Tip*- Stamp your gretting before you measure and cut your mat. This will ensure you have enough space for everything. Ask me how I know!

*Tip*- Here's a way to save c/s and by extension money. (You know how I love to save money) Try this next time you mat another layer-

Why just let all that c/s under your layers go to waste. Take a punch and punch a shape/shapes you'll use often for layers. Then save those for use later. No one but you will know that paper's not under your layer. :)

Here's the sketch I used for today's card-

I don't think I've ever played along with Unscripted Sketches but I'm glad to be playing along with them this week.

Here's the inside of my card-

I kept it C&S too. Just a strip of DSP across the bottom and my sentiment. My sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso and is from Greetings of the Season. I guess I should get more Holiday sentiments but I just have so much other stuff on my wish-list. :)

That's all I have for you today. I hope you liked it and I hope the DT likes it too. I love hearing from you, so if you liked today's card or have comments or questions about it I hope you'll leave me a little blog love below. I read all of your comments and they really do make my day! If you'd like to +1 or Pin today's card, I've put those buttons on my blog for your convenience. Friends and Followers are always welcome too! :)

Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to stop by my little corner of the world. You are very appreciated! I hope you'll stop back by soon, or better yet, put me in your reader feed or sign up by e-mail and you'll never miss any of the fun. Till next time-

Christmas Sweet-Hearts / SSC #269

*Don't forget to check out this post for my Blog-Versary - Give-Away. It will be open until Midnight August 23, 2012.*

Hey y'all. Happy Thursday! I hope you're having a great week. The best part? The weekend is just a day away. Gee, I really love having a Monday-Friday job and being able to say that and having every weekend off. The best part, no off hours or weekend shifts. Woo-Hoo. Next best part, my evenings and weekends are usually free to stamp and play. :)

I've been trying to get to today's card all week, but just haven't been able too. Other creative things kept getting done instead. How does that happen!?! Anyways, I finally got it done and am so excited to show it to you. Here it is-

Holiday Card featuring
Scentsational Season and Be of Good Cheer DSP
For today's card I started with a base of Very Vanilla c/s. For the next layer I ran a piece of W.W. c/s through my Big Shot with the new Chevron E.F. I attached this and a piece of Be of Good Cheer DSP to some Cherry Cobbler c/s. A piece of Gumball Green ribbon was added to cover the seam between the two top layers and was secured with SNAIL. This whole panel was attached to the base with Dimensionals. I used two pieces of Rose Red c/s, that matched the snowflakes on the DSP, as mats. My two sweet Gingies are stamped on scraps of V.V. c/s with Soft Suede Classic Ink and attached them with Tombow. These two panels were mounted with Dimensionals. Don't you hate when you have a plan and then forget to do it? I had planned on embossing my sweetie's with the Sugar and Spice Embossing Powder and remembered it as I was gluing the inside pieces to card base. AUGH!!!!

Here's a closer look-

I used my Owl-Builder Punch to punch hearts out of C.C. c/s. I used them to make a sweet little Bow-Tie and a cute little Hair-Bow. Both were secured with Tombow and a small pearl. A little Dazzling Diamonds made the bow extra pretty and look like a little dusting of sugar on their arms and legs. I used more Gumball Green Ribbon as an accent since the Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge had an element there. It's kinda cute though, don't you think? The sentiment is from Petite Pairs, love that set.

Here's the sketch I was working with from Stamping 411. Make sure to check them out. They always have great challenges and give measurements to get you started. That's worth the price of admission for sure! :)

Scentsational Seasons Stamp Set and Petite Pairs
I've got an extra layer of c/s here since I hate to just stamp on the inside of the card. Plus it gives a little more color. I meant to stamp off once on these two sweeties and forgot. :( For some reason they came out looking darker than the ones on the front. I'm afraid they looked a little crispy. I love a little dusting of sugar on my Ginger-Bread cookies so I sugared them to make them look a little yummier.

Don't you just want to take a bite out of him? YUM!!!

That's all I have for you today. I hope you like my little Sweet-Hearts. Don't forget to check out Stamping 411. They'll have a new sketch for us on Saturday. I love hearing from you so if you have any questions or comments about today's card, I hope you'll leave me a comment. I read all of my comments and they really do make my day. :) If you'd like to +1 or Pin today's card, I've put the buttons on my blog for your convenience. Friends and Followers are always welcome too! :)
