Hey y'all.Happy Tuesday. I hope your day is going good. It's so cold here in the DMV and I have to say I'm looking forward to the near 70's they say is coming in the next few days. However they say another cold front is following for the weekend. I wish the weather would make up it's mind!
Want to know what not in doubt? My plans for this card. Yep. Love it when that happens. And as so rarely happenes lately, no one on the design team had come up with this idea. I was so excited! YEA!!!!!
Here's my card-
Here's the Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch-
I started with a base of Early Espresso. Next came a layer of DSP from the Everyday Enchantment from our Sale-A-Bration line. This is only the second time I've used it. Up until last week it was my least favorite design but now I'm really kind of liking it. Too bad it's only around until the end of the month. :(
For my flower vase I used one of the vases from a new stamp set in the Summer Smooches Set (I'm having a moment right now and can't remember the name... something blooms). I inked it up with my Pool Party Stampin Write Marker and Stamped it on my piece of Very Vanilla c/s. The stem and leaves are actually from one of the other vases in the same set but I liked them better for the flower I was going to use. I stamped them with Wild Wasabi Stampin Write Markers. The Flower is from the Fresh Vintage set and was colored with Poppy Parade and Calypso Coral Stampin Write Markers. I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to ensure precise placement. I love that thing and really couldn't stamp without it. You have one in your stamping tool-kit right? I sure hope so. It's a must have! I sponged the edges with Crumb Cake and mounted it on a piece of Early Espresso c/s that was also sponged for a little dimension. These two pieces were then popped up with dimensionals.
For my little banner I inked up the first part of the sentiment from the stamp set For All You Do, with my Early Espresso Stampin Write Marker and stamped it on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla c/s which I then cut into a little flag. I then sponged the edges and using the edge of my paper snips gave the strip a little wave. A few Mini-Glue Dots is all it took to hold it firmly in place. But, I think my pretty embossed butterfly's look so much prettier so I used another Mini-Glue Dot to sit them right down on top of it so it looks like they're holding it down. :)
My only variance from the sketch is up in the corner. Instead of just putting a strip of lace across the corner I added a bow too. When I imagined the card that's how I saw it. I tried it without the bow, but it just seemed to be missing something so I had to stick it on there, so once again, Mini-Glue Dots to the rescue.
Here's the inside-
A very Clean and Simple inside. A little strange for me.
Want to know a little secret? I actually went to take this picture and realized that I had forgotten to put my little signature something pretty on the inside. " I was in a hurry to finish up... it was late and I was trying to spend a little quality time with my daughter before I went to bed (it was 10:30). Luckily, I remembered that when you use your Handy-Dandy Embosslets you got not 1 Butterfly but 5, so I ran back and got 1 of the unused butterflies, slapped some Tombow on him and Voila, instant little pretty!
The sentiment is the rest of the sentiment from For All You Do in Early Espresso, stamped on Very Vanilla. The edges are all sponged in Crumb Cake and my card is done.
What do you think? I hope you like it. I hope I have inspired you to try something new, whether it's trying a new challenge or using some DSP that's not necessarily your favorite.
If you need supplies to make your own cards you can shop in my ONLINE STORE 24/7.

"Many" Thanks Gift Card Holder
Pin It
Hey y'all. Happy Friday!
Have you ever had one of those moments when you just knew you had done something and you looked and looked and looked for it, because you just knew you had done it (me), because you wanted to show it to someone (in this case you guys), but you couldn't find any evidence of it only to realize that since you did said project on Christmas morning and it wasn't posted as your "Very Last Minute Gift" and it didn't get posted between there and the end of the year you must not have posted it. :(
*Head-desk*
Of course on the upside that means that you haven't seen this project before from me and you won't be going "Not another one!"
Most of you that have been following me know that I have been sick with the Terminator of all Pneumonias for over a month now. Seriously! 3 rounds of antibiotics, 2 rounds of oral steriods, inhaled steroids, round the clock inhalers, narcotic cough syrups to sleep, you name it, I've had it. I've been a nurse for over 23 years (pretty impressive since I'm only 29 LOL!) and I've been exposed to just about everything and I've never been hit with anything like this!
Well, I've been working a second job on the weekends, just a couple of hours on Friday and Saturday nights for some extra cash, which I obviously haven't been able to work due to all the coughing and wheezing. One of the girls, went above and beyond to get all my shifts covered for me each week. What a doll! She likes to go to IHOP with one of her best friends after work on the weekends, so I thought it would be nice to get her a gift card so she could go, since she had helped me out so much. Of course, I couldn't give it to her in the ugly thing IHOP wraps their cards in, now could I? Of course not! So I made this last night instead.
I think it's much nicer. What do you think?
I started with a piece of Poppy Parade that measures 6 1/4 x 4 3/4 . Score it at 1 3/4 and 41/4 and a piece of DSP from Everyday Enchantment, from our Sale-A-Bration collection, that measures 4 1/4 x 1 1/4. Here's a link to the video HERE so you can see just how fun and easy this is. This is a Quick and Easy Project and one I'm sure you will want to keep in your go to file.
After scoring and folding my c/s I rounded the corners with my Corner Rounder Punch. Next I sponged the edges of my DSP and secured it to my c/s with SNAIL. I then stamped my sentiment in Poppy Parade with the help of my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig so I could get it centered on my 2 x 2 piece of Very Vanilla c/s, sponged the edges, secured it on my Poppy Parade c/s with SNAIL and then set it aside for a little while. We'll come back to it in a minute.
Here's the inside-
Angie didn't put a space to write on hers in the video, she had a little tag. Since I didn't have a tag, I cut a piece of Very Vanilla c/s 1 1/2 x 4 (I'm pretty sure that's what it is (: ) and stuck it to the inside so I could write a little personal note. This however impacted where I was going to put my velcro attachment, luckily I was able to re-position so it would still work. :)
Originally I had my focal point centered, but due to my little mishap above I had to re-position it down to the bottom of the card. Luckily, it still works. It just happens to line up with the top of the DSP. SMH, I don't know how that managed to happen. Dumb luck I guess, but I'll take it. I attached the velcro, closed the gift-card holder and then trimmed off the over-hang and my gift card was complete. I'm sure she's going to be so excited! At least I hope she will be.
By the way- Here's a pic of the holders I thought I showed you back at Christmas time-
The two big ones are I-Tunes holders and I was in a hurry and spilled my coffee as I was trying to get the picture taken. Boy was I upset! Luckily my nephew didn't mind. Since they are bigger I will make some more of these and post them with measurements, since I haven't seen any of them anywhere out in bloglandia. Oh, and I'll be sure not to have any coffee spots on the new ones, ok. ;)
*TIP* - I'm pretty sure Angie says it in her video, but make sure you use Sticky Strip when you make these. You want to make sure your gift card is secure. Don't risk it with SNAIL. Plus, SNAIL may be a little too wide.
Well, that's all I have for you today. I hope you liked today's project. I hope it inspired you to have a little fun and to try something new. If it does, I hope you'll let me see!

End of the Week Technique # 22 Sanding Textures and Challenge 9 -Freshly Made Sketches Challenge # 24/ My Challenge #11
Pin It
Hey y'all. Happy Thursday. It's a beautiful, sunny day here in the DMV for the first day of March and it feels like Spring is in the air. Too bad the weatherman says it's not going to last. *Boo-Hiss*
I just put in a nice, large, over-night order of the All-New, Pre-Order, Spring Sneak Peak from Stampin' Up and I can't wait to play with it this weekend. Stamps and Fabric and Brads and Paper and Digital -Oh My! And that's just the beginning of what Mr. Ups is bringing to my house tomorrow. Oh how I love that man. I hope my honey's not reading my blog today... sorry sweetie, you know you're my true love.... kisses XOXOXO
Anyhoo- if you don't have a demonstrator I'd be happy to help you get your hands on some extra-special stuff before the other kids on the block too, just give me a shout.
But, for today I've got the second EWT this week and this week's challenge entry. I'm on a roll here and not in a good way. This is the third week in a row where I've looked at a challenge sketch (second week in a row where I've looked at 2) and had my idea match someone from the design team. Now if you haven't read my previous posts, when I look at a challenge sketch, if it's one that I really like, I either sketch it out on paper, or decide in my mind which paper, DSP, punches and stamp sets, etc. that I'm going to use before I look at the Design Teams samples so I don't feel like I'm influenced by their work in my card. Also, if my idea is like theirs it's really not much sense in submitting it because everyone's going to think I copied them, so why bother.
This has happened for the last 3 weeks!!!! SERIOUSLY! Yesterday it happened again on 2 challenges. This one for FMS used the same DSP. I have never even used this DSP before because it's my Absolutely LEAST Favorite DSP in the whole packet, and I finally decide to use it and scroll down to look at the DT samples and there it is. Seriously! *HeadDesk* At least I had not planned to use the Labels Framelet which I have to admit was a great design element by the DT member. Props to her. But still. The other challenge over at Stampin Queens was the same way, had my design figured out, scrolled down, BAM! There it was! Same design, same embosslets. AUGH! Ok- Great Minds and all that, plus I changed things up enough anyways so my card's different but still, I just needed to vent. :)
Freshly Made Sketches is all about Clean Cards- no torn edges, open spaces that kind of stuff. If you know me and my OCD, you know that pretty much fits me to a "T". How traumatizing is it to me to tear cardstock or crumple it up? Soooo Very! That's How Much! Well, this week they wanted DSP and or Embossing Folders on the cards so I used both.
You're probable wondering how my EWT of Sanding Textures could possible fit in with "Clean Cards" Well, it's "texturized" but still clean. No raw or torn edges. You'll see.
Here's today's card-
I started with a base of Early Espresso. On top of that I layered a piece of DSP from Everyday Enchantment. It's from our Sale-A-Bration line and it's free with a $50 purchase. It's got a vintagey feel and the paper comes distressed a little so I sponged around the edges with Crumb Cake classic ink to even it out. You know my OCD could allow it to be like that on just two edges. Oh that just wouldn't be acceptable, not at all!
I took a strip of Early Espresso and ran it through my Big Shot in my Lattice Embossing Folder for some texture. I've seen a lot of people texturize DSP and then sand it to have the white inner core show through and I wanted to see what would happen if I sanded the regular cardstock. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up well with my cruddy BB (better camera coming up with tax refund) but a nice caramelly- rusty color showed up on the edges of the raised areas. It went well with the antiqued, distressed aspect of the DSP and made a nice addition to the card. I don't think the nice folks over at FMS will object to my addition....at least I hope they won't.
After, I made my embossed strip I attached my Early Espresso Organza Ribbon and Bow. You have some of that at home right? What, you don't remember seeing it in the catalog? I made it. You can too! I took the 5/8' White Organza Ribbon and sponged it with Early Espresso Classic Ink. I love that you can customize that ribbon to any color you want! I SNAIL'ed it to my embossed c/s and then made a bow and attached the bow with a Mini-Glue Dot. Perfect Match! Too Sinking Easy!
I stamped my Focal image from the Everyday Elegance stamp set, another Sale-A-Bration freebie, on Very Vanilla c/s in Early Espresso Classic Ink. I then stamped over it with VersaMark and set it with Heat and Stick Powder and Clear Embossing Powder. I then fussy cut it out, mounted it on Early Espresso c/s and cut it out again. To this I added Butterflies embossed and cut out from my Beautiful Wings Embosslet. They were mounted with Mini-Glue Dots. This whole focal point was mounted with Stampin Dimensionals and the front was done. I have to say it was a little more involved than most of my cards, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
Here's the Sketch I was working with-
What do you think? I shifted the center piece up and added a bow, but otherwise it's the same.
Here's the inside-
I didn't add a sentiment because I'm not sure what I'll be giving it for. I did add a sweet little butterfly from the same stamp set to tie in with the theme.
Not my favorite paper to start with, but now that I've used it I kinda like it. :)
If you haven't tried this technique of embossing and sanding I recommend it. It really does work well with our DSP and I will do it with that on a card and post it here as well in a future post. Our DSP has a white inner core and when you emboss it and then sand it the white core shows through. Here's what you do-
1- Place your DSP or Cardstock in and embossing folder and run it through your Big Shot
2- Take your Sanding Block and lightly sand over the top of of your DSP or Cardstock
3- Watch the magic unfold before your eyes
4- Use your DSP or Cardstock to enhance your project
5- Wait for the Ooohs and Aaahs
I hope I've inspired you to try something new today, whether it's a new technique, or a challenge. If you do I would love to see what you come up with!
If you need supplies to help get you started, you can shop in my ONLINE STORE 24/7.

An Enchanting Window (Challenge #8)/ Stamping 411- SSC-243 /My Challenge #8
Pin It
Hey y'all. Happy Humpday and Happy Ash Wednesday to those of you that celebrate today as well. I am prepared for the long season ahead.... I gave up my usuals (chocolate and cussing), thank goodness I still have my stamping to keep me happy and sane! (:
I have a new challenge card for you today. Yesterday, when I was looking through my feeds I actually found two sketches I liked and knew just where I wanted to go with them. So rare for me. Of course last time I did that, I scrolled down and found out someone on the design team had my same great idea and I then had to search for a new sketch. Yesterday though, I sketched out my ideas, looked at what the DT and others had posted and was good to go. I sat down at my table and made both cards. Start to finish, they came together quickly and just how I had planned them. I had to do a little happy dance. Don't you just love when that happens. So today you get card one and then tomorrow will be card two.
Here's today's card-
And here's the Stamping 411 Sketch-
What do you think? I kept pretty true to the sketch. This card is so different from my normal style and I'm so excited by how it turned out! I love the DSP from Everyday Enchantment, but I've had a hard time using this particular color/pattern combination. Not sure why. However, my upline Robin Merriman created a project this weekend for our team meeting using this combo and I guess it was still fresh in my mind.
When I first saw the sketch, the image in the background reminded me of this DSP, and I knew I wanted to use DSP, instead of just a background image. The DSP also has little butterflies on it, so in addition to the butterfly on the sketch, which I know can technically be any shape, I took my inspiration for my focal point from the DSP as well.
I used a base of Peach Parfait and made a tent style card, which is also something I don't normally do, but I think it works here. I love the color peach, but somehow I have not used this a lot. It will be gone soon though, so if it's one of your fav's stock up now. Next I layered my DSP with a piece of Pool Party that I used my Scalloped Border Punch on. I have to say my OCD kicked in just a little on this layer. This DSP has a vintage feel to it and all the 12 x 12 pages have darkened edges. Of course when you cut it though, if you cut from an edge, that can leave some edges antiqued and some not. Now you know good and well I can't have that unevenness on my card, right? Right! I knew you'd get it. So I got out my faithful CrumbCake Classic ink pad and sponge and evened the edges on my DSP so they all matched. Of course, once you sponge one elelment, you're pretty much committed to sponging them all, so my Pool Party addition got a little CrumbCake luv too. (:
I used my 1 3/4 inch Circle punch to punch out the window. Then on a scrap piece of Peach Parfait c/s I used my 1 3/4 Circle Punch and then centered it inside my Large Scalloped Circle Punch to punch out my Scalloped Frame. First time I've done that and I have to say I really like the effect. Now, you know I couldn't risk not having those circle line up, so I laid my DSP down on my card base and lightly traced the outline with a pencil and then used that as my guide to punch the window out of my base layer. This way I knew everything would line up just right. I then took a small piece of Lace trim and laid it over the front of my DSP, and wrapped it through the edge of my punched window. Both ends were secured under the DSP with just a small amount of SNAIL adhesive. I then Tombowed my Scalloped Circle frame over the lace ribbon and the punched window to secure it. Add a little lace bow secured with a Mini-Glue Dot and the front of my card was completed.
Here's the inside-
I used two of the butterflies from my Beautiful Wings Embosslet for the inside of my card. I used Peach Parfait and Very Vanilla. I lightly sponged the edges to give them a little dimension and used Mini-Glue dots so secure them to each other and the Very Vanilla c/s I used inside of my card. I sponged the Very Vanilla all around the edges as well to carry that design theme from the front of the card. My bottom butterfly's wings are curved up just a little . Any more than this and they catch on the edges of the window. I was able to give the center butterfly a little more dimension and elevation without any impingement. I didn't add a sentiment, because I wanted to be able to have this on hand for any occasion, and I think it will be able to fit just about any need I might come up with.
What do you think? I'm so glad Stamping 411 gave us such an Amazing sketch to work with this week. I hope you like it and I hope it inspires you to try something new the next time you sit down to create, maybe a new sketch challenge, color combination or maybe even just using a punch in a different way. Remember the goal of this blog is to Just Try!
I hope to see you back here tomorrow. Don't forget I've got another challenge card ready and waiting to go. :)
If you like today's card, please feel free to leave me a comment, I would love to hear what you think. Also, friends and followers are always welcome.

Celebrate - Confetti Overload - OWH Challenge # 107 /My Challenge #6
Pin It
Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday. I hope you're having a great day today. The sun is shining and we're enjoying almost spring-like weather here in the DMV. Of course they say the cold and flurries are coming tomorrow but I will enjoy it for as long as I can.
I have a challenge card for you today. You know one of my resolves for the year was to do a challenge a week, right? Well sometimes just getting your card, much less a challenge card to come out like you want it can be like pulling teeth, (Remember that one? HA!, It was an OWH challenge too. (: ) and sometimes you see a sketch and know exactly what you want to do, Stamp set, DSP, Ribbon, everything. Ok, not everything. Everything they showed. I still had to figure out the inside, because you know I always do something special on the inside, but the outside, that they showed, I knew exactly, and I did not waver one bit.
L.O.V.E. I.T. When That Happens.
Especially since it happens so infrequently, to me at least. Does it happen for you very often?
Wanna see? Here you go-
I started with a base of Pool Party, so cool and refreshing. I added a layer of striped DSP from Everyday Enchantment from our Sale-A-Bration. Have you gotten yours for FREE yet? It's Amazing and absolutely FREE with only $50.00 in purchases. Since it had some "antiquing" (why does that just not look right? SMH) around 2 of the edges I took my Crumb Cake Classic Ink Pad and a sponge and sponged around all the edges to even them all out. (You know my OCD could not allow me to just have it "antiqued" on two of the four edges, right? Oh, heck no!) I then adhered this to the base with Tombow.
For my focal point I took a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped my sentiment from the stamp set Outlined Occasions , another Sale-A-Bration set, in Basic Black and colored in with my Stampin Write Markers in Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, and Pool Party. I then sponged the edges with my Crumb Cake.
Isn't that sweet, sheer, ribbon pretty and just the little touch this card needed? Good job on this sketch OWH! This ribbon is also from our Sale-A-Bration and it's simply wrapped around and tied in a simple bow, nothing fancy. I then popped the whole thing up with dimensionals, sponged the edges of the card base with Crumb Cake as well and the front was done. So simple yet so cute! It just makes me smile, how about you?
Here's the sketch. You can see I stuck right to it-
I really do appreciate that they give us the measurements. They have no idea how much it help my OCD!
The inside's what took so long. You know I believe the inside should be just as pretty or at least as interesting as the outside so I decided since it was a "Celebration" I wanted to bring the confetti from the outside of the card to the inside of the card.
I got so excited laying down confetti, I forgot there was going to have to be space to write, so I had to do that old stand-by, yeah you know what we say in stamping.... "It's OK, There's always the other side!". So I flipped the cardstock over and started laying down confetti again but this time I stamped off twice every time before stamping on my cardstock so the colors would be muted.
Believe it or not, this is the stamped off twice version. I decided to go back and highlight a few random pieces of confetti. I used the stamp from the front of the card and using my Stampin' Write Markers colored in the confetti and the dotted lines and then randomly (I know random, I hate that word) stamped it repeatedly over the card around the sentiment which I stamped in Basic Black Classic Ink. It's from the Outlined Occasions stamp set as well.
In real life, it's actually light enough to write on, or the note could be written on the Pool Party card stock above this section. I really like how this turned out. I Tombowed this to the card base and my card was done. This would be a great card of mine to send to OWH because it's festive and bright and totally me and has absolutely NO Glitter! I hope it would make someone smile on their special day. What do you think?
Have you played with the folks over at OWH yet? You should check them out. They are an AMAZING organization helping out not only our Hero's but their families as well. Why don't you head on over there and check them out, but not till you're done here, kay? Kay.
Well, That's all I have for you today. I hope you enjoyed today's card. I hope it inspired you to create something new or maybe to play along with this sketch, or another sketch this week. If you liked today's card, I would love it if you left me a comment. It's great when I get to hear from you! Also, if you liked today's card, please feel free to +1 or Pin it. MDS Monday - Sale-A-Bration- A Q&E Note of Thanks
Pin It
Hey y'all. Happy Monday! I hope y'all had a great weekend. I know I sure did. In spite of what is, I'm sure turning into a sinus infection, my StampCamp girls were Amazing! They had a blast and did such beautiful cards. 2 of them were new to stamping and were just pros at it and I know they we will be coming back for more. Look for pictures later in the week.
Today I have a Q&E, a Quick and Easy, MDS Monday card for you. This came together so quick yesterday I can't even tell you. I think I spent about 15 minutes on it and it was done. I was actually inspired by a card I saw on someones blog when I was surfing and now I can't find it. If you know who's card it is (or if it's yours) or if I can find it again I will edit to give credit here.
This is just a really simple design that you can use in MDS or with your regular cardstock to use up scraps. The original card I saw used our "notecard" set and this would make a great class. It would also be a great beginner class or get to know you class.
Here's today's card-
A simple Whisper White notecard with Pool Party punched out with the Scalloped Square Punch. On top of that I layered 3 squares of Everyday Enchantment DSP from Sale-A-Bration DSP which you can get Free with a $50.00 purchase now through the end of March. I stamped my sentiment in Pool Party as well. Clean, Elegant, Simple.
Here's the inside-
Sorry, It's kind of hard to tell where the card starts and my background begins. ): I left the inside blank since it's a notecard, so there was plenty of room for the sender to write their message. I used another strip of the Everyday Enchantment DSP to lay across the bottom of my notecard and the cute little butterfly is actually not a stamp but a "punch" that I just decreased the size on. It matches the butterfly in the DSP on the front and just below it. Isn't it cool how we can do that?
Wouldn't you love to get this card from someone? I know I would and that's always the standard I set for myself in whether or not I think a card of mine is "up-to-snuff" or not.
Do you have your MDS yet? How would you like a Free 1 month trial of Stampin Up's My Digital Studio FREE of Charge with NO Strings Attached? Yes, I said NO Strings Attached! Stay tuned for more information.
Well, that's all I have for today. I hope you liked this weeks MDS Monday offering. I know I enjoyed coming up with it, even sick! I'll be back tomorrow with a new card for you. I hope to see you back then.
If you need to purchase supplies to make this card or cards of your own, you can shop in my ONLINE STORE 24-7.
If you liked it, I would love it if you left me a comment. It's great when I get to hear from you! Also, if you liked today's card, please feel free to +1 or Pin it. I've added the buttons to my side-bar for your convenience. Friends and Followers are also welcome. :)
