Hey y'all. Just a quick post today, wanted to get this card done and posted before the deadline. Sorry about not posting the MDS project for you yesterday. It was nonstop from 9am until almost 9pm. Will post it in the next few days.
Here's today's card-
Christmas card featuring Keepsake Ornaments and Ornament Framelets and Greetings of the Season |
I went very Clean & Simple, C&S, with this card. As many of you know, C&S is definitely not my style but I do try and challenge myself to at least one a week. I started with a base of Always Artichoke and layered Bravo Burgundy and Naturals White on top of it. Believe it or not this was the first time I had used Always Artichoke or Bravo Burgundy, cardstocks, markers, or pads. I really like the combination though. I really need to get me a Color Coach, but somehow it keeps getting missed or passed over for something else. I just placed an order Friday night and forgot again. Wanna know how I came up with this combo? I went looking through an old SU Catalog and saw another card that used this combo. This is why I never through out my old catalogs. What great resources they are for not only layouts but color choices too!
Here's the challenge sketch-
I veered from the sketch just a little. Instead of the ribbon across the bottom I used it to "hang" my ornament. Isn't that ornament pretty? It's from the new Holiday Mini that comes out in just 10 days. It also has a set of framelets that goes with it. No more cutting out those ornaments by hand. So much easier this way. Can you believe that's Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine? I really do love how our products coordinate with each other. if you look at the top where it's layered over the B.B. piece you can't tell that it's not the same color. :)
Here's a close-up of the ornament-
I used Dazzling Details all over the white portions. I think this is the only part of the card I'm not really excited about. The B.B. bled a little where the Dazzling Details touched it. Next time I try this I think I will just do my old standby of Two-Way Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds. I still think it's pretty though.
*Tip* make sure you have plenty of time for your Dazzling Details to dry, because it will take some time.
You know I don't like to leave you without showing the inside of the card too, and you know I like for the inside to be as pretty as the outside or at least close, so here you go-
Christmas card featuring Keepsake Ornaments and Ornament Framelets and Greetings of the Season |
This features another ornament from the same set and a sentiment from another new set, soon to be available, called Greetings of the Season. I'm so excited the Dazzling Diamonds showed up so sparkly in the picture.
Well, that's all I have for you today. I hope you enjoyed it and I hope it inspires you to play along with a challenge and/or to make a new C&S creation. I know you'll do a great job! Make sure to stop by Nacho Average Challenge and play along. Next week is a color challenge, ooooh I'm dreading it already. They gave a really good one last time, I'm crossing my fingers for another one that I won't stink at. :) If you liked today's card, I'd love it if you had a moment to leave me a message and let me know what you thought. I read them all and they make my day. If you'd like to +1 or Pin it, I've pout those buttons on my page here for your convenience. Friends and Followers are always welcome too! :)
Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to stop by my little corner of the world. You are sooo appreciated. Till next time-
