Pretty Poppies Sympathy

Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a safe and restful holiday weekend. :) Mine was definitely restful. I got about 75% of my wishlist done and almost that much of my DVR watched. :) Unfortunately, I didn't get as much done in the studio as I wanted, but I still have lots of stuff in the wings for you including today's card.

Many of you know my grandmother passed away a few weeks ago. Due to uncertainty about the dates of her service (we had to transport her body home from out-of-state) and work, I was unable to go home for the funeral. While this was upsetting to say the least, the thing that was most upsetting was my inability to be there for my mom. I decided to make a card and send it to her. Here's what I came up with-

Watercolored Sympathy Card featuring
Pretty Poppies
This was the first time I had been able to use this set and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I started with a base of Riding Hood Red. Next I ran a piece of Very Vanilla through my Big Shot with my Framed Tulips Embossing Folder. It was just the right size to frame my poppies. Love how our SU products always seem to work together like that! Know what I really like about this stamp other than how pretty it is and how you can use different portions of it? I was able to get it as a Clear-Mount instead of a wood mount. Woo-Hoo! I stamped my poppies with Black Staz-On and then used my Classic Ink Pads and blender pens to color them in. I used Lucky Limeade for the stems and a combination of Pumpkin Pie, Pretty in Pink and Riding Hood Red for the flowers. I sponged a little Crumb Cake over the embossed areas for dimension and a little over the flowers to soften everything up and my front was done.

Here's the inside-

Pretty Poppies and Petite Pairs
I mounted both sentiments from Petite Pairs onto a single block, and stamped them in Soft Suede. I stamped and colored in my poppies using the same technique from the front of the card. Very clean and simple.

I also stamped the outside of the envelope, which is something I want to start doing more often.

I'm happy to say that my mom is doing well and that she called to say she "Loved" her card.

That's all I have for you today. I hope you liked today's card. I love hearing from you so if you have comments or questions about today's card, I hope you'll take just a moment to leave a little blog love. I read all of my comments and they really do make my day! If you'd like to +1 or Pin today's card. I've put those buttons on my blog for your convenience. Friends and Followers are always welcome too! :)

Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to stop by my little corner of the world. You are very appreciated! Till next time-

Remember- Life is often more about the storms than the peace they seek to overwhelm. It's not about Waiting for the storms to pass, but Learning to Dance in the rain.

Be Safe-
Shan
