Sweet Treat Holder

Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday! I hope you're having a great day and your week is off to a fabulous start. It's a little cold and overcast here in the DMV, but I've got a bright and cheery project for you today. :)

I'm always looking for cute projects to surprise friends and family with and this project fits the bill. It would also be a great hostess gift for your workshops, or a sweet surprise for a nice co-worker to find on their desk.

Here's today's project-

Two Tags- Treat Holder with Sweet Shoppe DSP

This is so Quick & Easy to make. You could make quite a few in a short amount of time and have them on hand. Love having extras on hand for those last minute occasions that invariably pop up!

I used the Two Tags Die and my Big Shot to create this. I love that die! So many different ways to use it for so many creative projects and accents. I cut out two of the larger tags, scored on the score line and then adhered my two "bottoms" together using Sticky Strip. I probably could have gotten away with Tombow, but I was in a hurry. Although you could conceivably use SNAIL, I wouldn't. I would use something that would ensure me a stronger, more secure hold like the Sticky Strip or Tombow.

Decorating it was a snap. I cut two pieces of DSP from the Sweet Shoppe collection. Since I plan on putting sweets of some sort in there I thought this pattern was just right. I adhered it to both sides with Tombow, added a strip of our White Organza Ribbon through the holes to hold my sides together, tied it all up with a sweet little bow and Done! Like I said, really Quick and Easy!

You can see how the bottoms fit together to give you a great platform to adhere your treats too. I didn't put any treats in because I made it during Lent and didn't want to get the chocolate out. :) You could easily fit  small stuff like Kisses or Mini-Reeces cups or some Ferro Rocher. You could even fit snack-size portions of your favorite candy bars in.

Sweet Bunny Spinner

Hey y'all. Happy Monday! I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend. I know I did. :) I spent Friday night with friends, Saturday with friends and babysitting the sweetest little Chunky-Money around, and Sunday cooking a fabulous dinner to eat with my baby girl. All in all pretty good!

I meant to post today's card yesterday, but never even got around to checking my e-mail on the computer. What in the world did we do before smartphones? So this is a day late for Easter but I think it's still a really cute card and if you aren't familiar with spinner cards, it might give you ideas for your own.

Here's today's card-

Spinner card with EveryBunny stamp set and Nursery Nest DSP

Don't you love it when you can use DSP from one specific set for a totally different type of card? I do! It's like getting another pack of DSP for free! For this card I started with a base of Perfect Plum. I'm not usually a Pastel-ly kind of person but I'm trying. Then I added this 4 x 4 piece of DSP from the Nursery Nest DSP Collection. Such soft pretty colors and I felt like the up and down pattern kind of mirrored the motion of my sweet little bunny as she spins her way across my card.

I used the sweet little bunny from the EveryBunny stamp set and water-colored her in with my Blender Pen and Classic Ink Pads. Doesn't she look like she's holding on to that egg and getting ready for her ride? It's hard to see but I used some Dazzling Details on the inside of her ear and all around the darker outside edge of her shell for a little shine. I inked up part of the sentiment with my Stampin Write Markers in Perfect Plum, and punched it out with my Word Window Punch. A little sponging around the edges and some Stampin Dimensionals and the front was done,

I inked up the rest of the sentiment the same way and stamped it on a piece of Whisper White c/s. I stamped the sweet little "egg-flower" with Basic Black Classic Ink and then water-colored it with my Blender Pen and Classic Ink Pads as well. For some added sparkle I once again used my Dazzling Details to make the image and the inside of my card even prettier. I also outlined the image with some Bashful Blue for a little shadowing and to make the image "pop" just a little. A little sponging around the edges of my card for a final little detail and my card was done.

I wish you could see it in person. It's just so cute not to mention fun to watch my sweet little bunny spin her way back and forth across the card. :) You know it's the small things in life. LOL

"Magnificent" Quilted Faux-Stitched Card / End of the Week Technique #27

Hey y'all. Happy Friday! I guess I should say Happy Good Friday or Happy Passover too. I hope you have had a great week and are looking forward to an Amazing weekend.

For this week's EWT I have a card I CASE'd from Tracy Wegener over at Paper Crafter's Library. You can see the video here. She showcased this card and technique and I liked it so much I wanted to do my own.

Here's today's card-

Faux Stitched Card, Domestic Goddess DSP, Perfect Words Stamp Set

I started with a base of Basic Grey c/s and layered Daffodil Delight and Pool Party c/s on top. This card opens up on the side which is a little different than most of my cards. In fact this may be the first one like this on my blog. Both the Daffodil Delight and Pool Party layers are popped up with dimensionals. I hadn't originally intended for there to be a layer of Pool Party showing around the top and sides of the DSP, but apparently my measurements were off just slightly somewhere so that's what ended up happening. I kind of like it though. The Pool Party Layer was run through my Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder for a sweet detail.

For my DSP layer I chose five pieces of DSP from the Domestic Goddess collection. It's so cute and the colors are just sooo cheery! The five pieces were cut at 1 3/4' x 1 1/2' each and then layered over each other at the 1" mark. I really like the look of this card but I think next time I will try the pieces at 1 1/2" squares so the DSP isn't quite so high. This was the first time I had used the Faux Stitching technique and while I think this card would have been cute with just the DSP, I think this technique really makes the DSP "Pop" 

I laid my "quilted layer" on my Pool Party layer to determine where to stamp my sentiment and stamped it write over the embossing using my Basic Grey Stampin Write Marker to ink it up. I used Perfect Words which is a "Hostess Set" but you can choose it with your free product $'s with a qualifying purchase.

For this technique you just need a few supplies-

Mat-Pack and Piercer and a Fine Tip Marker (I used my Stampin Write Marker, it's great because it has a brush-tip end and a fine tip end and they coordinate perfectly with all of my cardstock colors and DSP's)

Step 1- Use you Mat-Pack and Piercer to make your holes. Stampin Up's Guide in the Mat-Pack has lots of different sized holes. I chose the smallest ones and positioned it so the area where my DSP pieces met up was in between 2 rows. I then made a zig-zag pattern using my Piercer to make the holes. Do this for all the areas you want your "stitching" to be.

You would do a straight line the same way- just line up the edge of your guide along a grid line to make sure your "stitching line" was straight and then decide how many holes you wanted to skip in order to determine your "stitch length".

Step 2- Connect your holes. I used the side of Mat-Pack as a ruler to make sure my connecting lines were straight. I then used my Basic Grey Stampin Write Marker to connect all my holes and my DSP was all stitched up giving a "quilt-like" appearance.

Step 3- Congratulate yourself on the addition of a very nice focal point!

How stinking simple was that!?!

I adhered this to my embossed Pool Party layer with Tombow, (it works so much better than SNAIL for embossed pieces) wrapped some Calypso Coral Bakers Twine around my layers, tied it up with a cute little bow and the front of my card was finished. Oh and I used a Mini-Glue Dot behind my Bow to make sure it stayed in line and didn't droop on me.

Here's the inside-

I stamped the rest of the sentiment from the front of the card in Basic Grey on a Whisper White background.  To this layer I also added a strip of coordinating DSP that I sponged first with more Basic Grey. I then sponged the outside of my Whisper White c/s with the same color and my card was finished.

Such a easy card! It looks like it took much more effort than it really did. In fact, I think it took me longer to refer to the video to get all the measurements and cut the cardstock just right, than any other portion of the card creation. LOL!

What do you think of this technique? It's definitely one I will use again, especially now that I see how easy it is. It's a good technique to add that special touch or maybe to "frame" a focal point or just to add a decorative frame around the edge of your card. This also makes for a great addition to your scrapbook pages.

Sweet "Peep" Spinner

Hey y'all. Happy Thursday to you. I hope your week is going great!

I don't know about you but one of my favorite types of cards is a spinner card. I love them because they're just so cute and they never fail to make me smile. :) In fact one of my first End of the Week Techniques was this spinner card.

For the last few Easters we had a really cute stamp set called A Good Egg. One of the stamps was of a little chick in a shell, and lots of people used him to make "Peeps" cards. He was just so precious! When they announced that set was retiring, I have to admit I was pretty bummed. However, this year's set Everybunny is so precious it was hard to be too upset. Especially since it also has a sweet little chicklet. For some reason though, I haven't seen any "Peeps" type cards featuring him. Well, I decided to change that...

Here's today's card-

Isn't he sweet? The best part, this card was so Easy to make. The hardest part was figuring out which colors I wanted to use to water-color with. LOL (Don't you just hate it though when you see something you missed, but you don't see it until it's on your post and you can't fix it? I just noticed I didn't put the ...'s after my "everybunny". Oh well, guess I know what I'll be doing when I get home.)

Any-hoo, back to my sweet little chicklet's card. I started with a base of Daffodil Delight folded to make a 4 1/4" square card. I added a 4' square of printed DSP and used my Word Window Punch to make the channel. You do have one of these punches right? It was the first punch I ever bought about 6 years ago and  is still one of my favorites. It's a must have! I stamped my sweet chickie on Whisper White c/s and used my blender pens and classic ink pads to color him in and then fussy-cut him out. It's hard to see but I went back just before bedtime last night and added a little of our dimensional glitter-glue (can't for the life of me remember what it's called right now. AUGH!) to his shell for a little added sparkle. I popped him up on some dimensionals and pennys, slid him in the channel and sat there and played with him for a few minutes. I then stamped part of the sentiment from the same set onto a scrap piece of Whisper White c/s in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink and punched it out too. I slid it back into the punch and punched again to get a smaller piece. A little sponging around the edge, some dimensionals and a Daffodil Delight Punch below it and the front of my card was done.

*Tip*- when making spinner cards it's helpful to double layer the dimensionals on your spinner layer, to make it easier for your spinner to spin. It's not absolutely necessary, but it does make it spin easier.

Here's the inside-

I stamped the rest of the sentiment from the front of the card in Chocolate Chip. I thought black would be too harsh. I then stamped the sweet little bunny and chick  to give the inside a little something pretty. Isn't he just too sweet?!? I used my blender pens and Classic Ink pads to color and finished it off with some dimensional glitter for just a little something extra. I used a little Bashful Blue to outline him for a little extra dimension and shading. This was the first time I had tried this and I think it really adds to the look. I've seen it on lots of blogs, but boy was I afraid to try. You know me, "Scaredy Cat" all the way...what if I used the wrong color, what if I messed up and had to start all over again and so forth. Whew! Not too bad though for a first attempt, and definitely something  I will do more of. A little sponging around the edge of the cardstock in Daffodil Delight and my card was done.

This card just makes me smile! How about you? I have to say, getting this card from someone would totally make my day. To me, that's the Gold Standard of crafting, to make something you would be happy to receive.

Summer Smooches Petite Purse

Hey y'all. Happy Humpday! I hope you're having a great day.

Just a quick little post here today. I know that's a surprise coming from me. :)

These cute little purses are everywhere lately. I see at least 2 or 3 of them a day on my reader feeds. I made mine a few weeks back, when I first got it and there weren't many out there. (guess I should have posted it sooner) Let me just tell you what an adventure that was. Actually, I'll leave it at that for today, because the telling of the real adventure will be told in another post. Trust me, if you're looking to smile and giggle all day, that post is for you.

Here's today's project-

I used my favorite color, Island Indigo, to make this sweet little purse. I then added a piece of our new Summer Smooches DSP to the flap. What a bright and cheerful pack of papers! I'm also loving this new Petite Purse Die that makes the purses. So many possibilities for cuteness.

Have you ordered your Petite Purse Die and your Summer Smooches collection pieces yet? They're available for special order as a preview until the end of this month. After that, you're going to have to wait until our new catalog comes out in June to get your hands on them. There are even some items that are only available this month and won't be in the new catalog.

You don't want to wait until June to get your goodies. Think of all the cute occasions you might need these before June....birthday parties, bridal showers, wedding favors, heck you can even make it into a fishing basket for Father's Day. They're just the right size to fit a special gift in, like a love note or jewelry (or both lol) or chocolate. Hey, don't judge. Chocolate always counts as a special gift in my book, how about yours?

I've seen so many cute ideas and ways to dress these up, I'm going to have to make some more real soon.

Finally! Apothecary Art and Label Framelets... :)

Hey y'all. Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a great start. We're back to freeze warnings and waking up to frost on cars here in the DMV. I wish the weather would just make up it's mind and decide to stay warm! Hopefully it won't be long. I have a card today with flowers, so it's springy on my blog at least.

I don't know about you, but I got my framelets when they were first offered to demonstrators months ago. I used the heck out of my Hearts framelets for Valentine's Day and kept meaning to use the Labels on a traditional card and somehow it just didn't happen. (I did use them once as a cover for a pocket card and once as a treat holder though, so at least they weren't totally un-loved) Same thing with my Apothecary Art set. So pretty, and yet so totally unused until just a few weeks ago when I was getting projects prepped for my 2 weeks off from stamping.

Now I can say...Finally, a card featuring my Apothecary Art set and my Label Framelets! WOO-HOO! I wish I had more projects but hey at least they are finally getting used together.

Here's today's card-

I've seen lots of cards featuring this set, some even using this color combination, but I just find it so elegant and soothing.

I started with a base of Soft Suede. I really wish I could tell you which pink I used for the next layer, but I don't have my card with me and we have so many pinks. AUGH!!! *headdesk* Likely it's either , Pretty in Pink or Blushing Bride. So Sorry. Next I stamped my image in Soft Suede and used my Blender Pends to color in the leaves and flowers. I used a couple of different colors on each to try and give some extra depth and dimension to my image. I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede from the same set, flagged both ends and then used the edge of my paper snips to give the banner a little wave to it, although it's hard to see in this picture. Some Soft Suede sponging on all the layers and dimensionals and my card front was done.

Here's the inside-

I used a sentiment from one of my favorite sets, Petite Pairs on a Very Vanilla background and sponged the edges with Soft Suede. I also put a little something pretty in too, because you know I love that touch on my cards.

Here's a closer look-

Do you recognize the stamp? Its from the same set...it's part of the little oval that says "For You". I colored this portion of the stamp with my Stampin Write Markers and stamped it in the corner. I just love how it turned out with the curved edge and all.

 Looking at my card now I think the only thing I would have really changed about it is I would have added embossing to my pink layer, maybe with the Perfect Polka Dots EF, or the Vintage Wallpaper EF. What do you think? Oh well, it's an excuse to use this set again and try another combination. :)

Triple Treat Welcome

Hey y'all. Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Mine was full of fun as my best guy friend and I spent it out and about with friends. We went out with some of his classmates Friday evening and didn't get in until 3:30. Been a while since I was out that late. Saturday night we celebrated a friend's birthday and had lunch yesterday before I ran errands and cleaned house. Unfortunately, I didn't win the huge Lottery. Just imagine all the creative fun I could have had with that! LOL!

Another bit of excitement on Saturday, I welcomed my first team member. Jovanka got a great deal by signing up during Sale-A-Bration and I'm so excited for her. She was at the birthday party Saturday night, so I got busy and made her a little "Welcome" card to show her how excited I was about her coming on  board.

Here it is-

It uses the Triple Treat Flower, which is one she'll be getting to play with soon since she got it in her starting kit. She wasn't too sure about getting it to start with, but decided she liked it after she got her card. :)

I started with a base of 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 piece of Island Indigo scored and folded to make a 4 1/4 square card and randomly stamped the flower in the same ink, for a tone-on-tone look. I knew I was going to add the punched flower, but didn't really have a plan for how when I stamped the card. This initially gave me pause but it all worked out.

I stamped the flower 3 times, all on Very Vanilla c/s. The bottom flower was stamped in Island Indigo and punched out with the Fancy Flower Punch. The middle layer was stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the 5-Petal Flower Punch and the top flower was inked in Pool Party but then I "tap-danced" over it with Island Indigo for a different look. I didn't have the 1/2" Circle Punch, so I made-do and used the smallest flower in the Boho Blossoms Punch. I have to say, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. All three layers are popped up with dimensionals.

When I went to position my punched flower I was just going to layer it over the stamped image I had in the center of my card, but then my flower would have been at an odd angle that I wasn't real happy with. I was trying not to add too many layers because I really wanted the flower to be the focal point...

Then I saw it! The stamped image just looks like another layer underneath the punched layers. How cool was that little realization? I stamped the sentiment "just for you" from Teeny Tiny Wishes onto a scrap of Very Vanilla and punched it out with my Small Oval Punch. It fit just right! A little Island Indigo sponging and some dimensionals and the front was done.

Here's the inside-

I kept it simple. I didn't have any "Welcome" stamps that I could use like some of the demonstrators have, so I got a little creative. I used the "Welcome Baby" stamp from my Petite Pairs set and just inked it up with my Stampin Write Marker. A little sponging around the edge and Jovanka's card was done!

I know you're probably wondering where my extra little pretty is for the inside. I couldn't think of what to put in there. I was stumped. As I'm writing this I realize I could have put a few Boho Blossoms in there, but as it turns out, there wasn't any room after I wrote my note. The good news is she was excited about her card, and I'm excited to have one of my friends join with me, so she can have lots of fun and get a great discount on the supplies she already loves. Win-Win!
